Marvel’s televisual universe continues to expand, with Cloak & Dagger the latest comic to be adapted.
Far removed from the gritty hyperrealities of Luke Cage and Daredevil, the show is Marvel’s first foray into the world of teen drama. In the clip, we are introduced to superhero protagonists Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone “Ty” Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) — two teenagers from very different walks of lives who eventually fall in love while discovering their superpowers. (And you thought normal puberty was difficult.)
The series harks back to classic ’90s series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with the official synopsis claiming that “[the pair] quickly learn they are better together than apart — but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.” Damn teenagers.
Cloak & Dagger arrives on Freeform at some point in 2018. Look out for further trailers in the future.
