Hoodlem, a rapidly-rising electro-pop priestess currently based in Toronto, Canada, set out to do one thing and one thing alone with her new single "Funny Farm:" to make a track that was, in her words, "smooth as fuck." Fortunately for her (and us), she wildly succeeds at this task. Listen to it via SoundCloud below.
If brooding, hyperactive works of dance pop are your thing, then "Funny Farm" is set to be your next go-to 'time to get these people out of my house and on the way to the club' music. Its energy is palpable; constantly propelling the listener forward with a cavernous yet elastic bass line and cooing vocals that embody seduction.
Hoodlem is on set to have one hell of a year. Last year she released her debut self-titled EP, and "Funny Farm," produced with Aussie beat-maker Yeo, is her first new work of 2017. Stay tuned to see what she cooks up next.
