Dover Street Market, COMME des GARÇONS’ founder Rei Kawakubo’s groundbreaking London store, finally swung open the doors to its huge offsite sale yesterday. If you haven’t heard, the demigods over at CdG finally answered your sartorial-based prayers to host a “fantastic, incredible, insane and unbelievable shopping festival,” in the brand’s own words. The sale runs from Thursday, May 11 through to Sunday, May 14.
Before the savage crowds ransacked the place, we were given an exclusive preview of what’s on offer. Given that there’s a whopping 80 percent off a careful edit from all nine of the CdG labels, including faves such as Gosha Rubchinskiy and Junya Watanabe, plus a selection of its favorite other in-house brands, you can expect to see snaking lines to get in across the weekend like the below from yesterday’s opening.
This year’s theme of “Walls and Statues” has already been previewed on Instagram, following previous themes like 2013’s “Cardboard City” that saw the space transformed with huge piles of boxes with slogans reading “Live Free with Strong Will” and “My Energy Comes From Freedom.”
Dover Street Market Market is open from Thursday until Sunday (11am-7pm) at The Store Studios, 180 Strand, WC2R 1EA
