Tune in and turn up

Grammy-nominated producer, saxophonist and Kendrick Lamar collaborator Terrace Martin just announced he’s quietly been piecing together a soul-snatching new musical collective called The Pollyseeds. Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington and Marlon Williams are just a few of the names he’s tapped to be part of the expansive project.

Martin also released the group’s first single, “Intentions,” which features Los Angeles-based emcee Chachi, who people might recognize more readily by his other stage name, Problem. Expectedly, the single fuses the best elements of jazz and hip-hop, something many of the associated acts have proven to be talented at blending.

The group’s full project will be titled The Sounds of Crenshaw Vol. 1 and is set to release July 14.

In the meantime, you can hold yourself over with “Intentions” below.
