As if we didn’t need any more proof that Tesla can build quality electric cars that go fast, here’s something you don’t see every day. This YouTube clip, posted by DragTimes, shows a Tesla Model X P100D – an SUV – lining up at Palm Beach International Raceway against a $530,000 Lamborghini Aventador. You’d think this quarter mile race would have a clear winner, but hold up.

The Lambo, an insane V12-powered supercar, takes multiple runs against the Tesla, but it’s simply no match. How is this possible? Tesla’s Ludicrous Mode is how. This trick tech allows the Model X (at factory spec) to launch to 60mph in around 3.1 seconds.

If you look closely at the launch, the Lambo suffers from wheel spin as the Tesla leaps smoothly from the starting line and absolutely kills it. The Lambo catches up right near the finish, but it’s already too late. Across a quarter mile, this Tesla is quite literally a supercar-eater. The Model X you see here clocked 11.418 seconds at round 118mph, 0.05 seconds faster than the Aventador. That’s ludicrous.

In other news, the insane Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept is now a drop-top.
