Last night, VH1 held a serious throwback night in the form of their Hip-Hop Honors, an evening celebrating the very best of the '90s, or as they titled it, “The ‘90s Game Changers.” There were a plethora of great performances from the likes of Missy Elliott and Mariah Carey, but a particularly impactful moment came courtesy of Pharrell Williams, who delivered an impassioned, highly political address. Watch his full speech below.
Pharrell kept things very serious in addressing the need to combat the surge of white nationalism in the United States. "For everybody at home watching this and acting like y'all don't see what's going on out there, you gotta open your eyes," he says, "Don't think just because they're coming at the African Americans and they're coming at the Jewish community and they're coming at the Hispanics that it can't be you... The white nationalists are walking towards your future. What you gonna do?"
On a lighter note, if you haven't already watched Missy Elliott's performance from last night, do so now:
In other music news, CupcakKe has shared a fiery new song titled "Exit." Listen to it right here.
