Kai and SunnyIt's A Wonderful World
Kai and Sunny are probably best known around these parts for their fashion label Call of The Wild. With the line they’ve collaborated with the likes of Reebok and Nike. Their work features honest, natural graphics that occasionally have a touch of the sinister.
This aesthetic folds into their largest solo art exhibition to date, “What A Wonderful World.” The exhibition opened on January 22 at London’s Stolen Space, and provides an opportunity for visitors to be enveloped in a personal assemblage of new material. An added sound scape further stamps the experience. Working for large brands, their own line and on personal projects, Kai and Sunny maneuver through a number of artistic endeavors. With the show as a springboard, I felt this intermingling of activity an interesting point to discuss. How does it all connect? What is learned from each disparate element? Can inspiration flow from one project to the next? Kai was gracious enough to let me pick his brain for a few minutes just hours prior to the opening of What A Wonderful World. We got to some of the above points and also discussed more in depth the preparations made to pull off an exhibition with such a heavy work load. Thanks to Kai actually standing in Stolen Space, I also got a little preview of the exhibition soundtrack. From what I heard, great stuff. Catch “What A Wonderful World” before it closes on February 15, 2009. |
