Last week
Nike invited a small group of media to Newport Beach, CA to take part in the launch of their latest cross-training shoe, the Trainer 1. Along with their designers, Nike also had a panel of pro athletes - from the NFL, Troy Polamalu, Adrian Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald, the NBA’s Amar'e Stoudemire and Brandon Roy, and Olympic Gold Medal decathloner Bryan Clay - on hand to discuss their training process, give interviews, and work out with local college athletes on behalf of the Trainer 1 product.
With the twentieth anniversary of Nike's famous "Bo Knows" ad campaign, NIke sets out on a one year campaign in hopes of expanding their athletic trainer category with the new Nike Trainer 1 as the centerpiece. In the mid-eighties, "Bo Knows" became part of the pop culture lexicon, and by tying in elite athletes with the Trainer 1, they aim to have a product that appeals to both the performance needs of today's athletes, as well as their desire to wear a shoe that does not compromise on style.
