Anit-skateboard Devices

We just came across a pretty interesting article on anti-skateboard devices becoming more and more common features in urban space.
The article mainly analyses the Embarcaderso in San Francisco and how now metal plates are being placed on benches and concrete elements. The funny part is that is does not prevent skateboarders from skating, but just makes them more creative. In the mean time all sorts of different things have been added to prevent anybody from skateboarding in the area.
Check out the pics also after the jump to get an idea. Just like benches being made uncomfortable, so that homeless people do not sleep on public spaces anymore, the same moves are being taken all around the globe against skateboarders.
The major issue with these actions is, that first of all it does not prvent anybody from skateboarding anyways and that it makes areas look ugly and uncomfortable for everybody. Thus, bottom line, you might as well leave it and let people do what they want, as long as they do not disturb others.
