Acronym Softshell Liquid Test

Beginning of last week we spend some time in Berlin. Of course we also passed by Firmament and we were lucky because the new Acronym Spring/Summer 2007 range had just dropped that day. Besides their hardshell jackets they also present again the Softshell pieces with and without hood. Even though we do not doubt the quality of Acronym, prices between 350 and 40 Euros for softshell pieces that at first seem like regular hoodies and trackjackets seem very high.

The softshell pieces are entirely constructed out of Schoeller WB-400 Nanosphere Extreme material. The guys from Firmament did not want to leave us with any doubt on the fact that the pieces do have their prices for a reason, so we did a little liquid test. The new softshells are even white, so they seem even more fragile. They took an entire glass of water and poured it over the softshell jacket. We have never seen something like that before happen on such soft fabric. The water was pearling off the jacket and did not stay on them in any form. It was really incredible. The same thing happens if you put any other kind of liquid on them. It does not enter nor stay on the jacket and just drips off entirely immediately. Unfortunately we could not take pictures fast enough to document how quickly the water was running off. Therefore only so little water on the pictures – the rest was already on the floor.
So, if you get one of them via The Glade you can be sure that you buy quality that hardly any other brand can deliver and that thus the price is well worth it!
