Tretorn is a Swedish athletic company founded in 1891. After having become quite the boring brand in terms of image, they finally got more creative again and launch since a few months now very interesting new sneakers and collaborations. The most recent one is with Acne Jeans, a Swedish designer collective, that is being very successful with their clothing line, mainly their denim.
As an on-going collaboration, they now launched the first models. This is what Acne has to say about the collaboration.
“Tretorn is a strong part of our upbringing and our legacy as Swedish designers,” says Jonny Johansson, creative director of Acne Jeans. “This is why we feel so honored to be working with them on this project. Conceptually we have a very similar approach to design, and feel that clean lines and authenticity are of absolute importance in everything that we produce.”
Here some info on the inspiration and design of the first series that just dropped.
“The result of their much-anticipated teamwork is an update on fellow Swede Bjorn Borg’s classic ’70s tennis shoes, now deemed the Acne Jeans Stroll Mid Canvas and Acne Jeans Stroll Low Canvas. This still court and city friendly creation, available in both low top and mid-size and in four bold but basic colors (electric blue, navy, white, and black), was additionally inspired by an unexpected source an old Chinese military sneaker dug out of vintage store in New York. Oxford shirt material lines the interior of the shoe, one of the many finer swipes of detail along with distinctive eyelets that make these shocking-blue unisex kicks stand out in a crowd.” Via Refinery.
