Eisaku Kito’s DIVA Sculpture For Nike Be True

10 January 2008, 13.11 | Posted in Art, Sneakers | No comments »

Eisaku Kito DIVA Sculpture
To celebrate the Nike Be True Series release, Colette has put up the DIVA sculpture in their window display, by artist Eisaku Kito. The artist is well known for his sculpture works and has previously also worked with Takashi Murakami.
Inspiration : “I got the idea of an angel from the white shoes and the color white. It’s not the kind of angel people imagine. It’s a mysterious being created by people – similar to a UFO. Sound is the hidden concept, or maybe, the result of my personal desire to want to hear sound. But, then again, Divas and angels are related to sound and music. And if you think about it, NIKE is the name of a goddess, so maybe it all ties together.”
The DIVA looks very interesting, mysterious in fact and the Nike Dunk has nicely worked its way in there. Via WeLoveParis.
After the jump a look at the full sculpture.
