You can\'t recreate a relic of a happening. Think about the context, the medium used, the music and people and the influence of Act Up on Haring\'s work. I lived in Kutztown. I\'ve donated artwork to fundraising auctions For Rainbow House. I love that Haring set up a foundation to help people dying of AIDS and children with cancer. It\'s brillant that he established it so his sister and father were head of the board, but this reframing of Keith\'s work is a contradiction to the phiiosphy of his art. When his sister sold her house she had the nursery walls Keith done painted over, because he had made it just for her child. She wanted her child to have that and no one else, which is completely fair. It only seems fair to me that those of us who go to see Harings work, who if you think about it are looking at it like art historians can\'t help but be disapointed by existence of this mural. If you\'re looking for the real deal go to 173 West Main St. Kutztown Pa. !9301 and check it out on the floor of New Arts, Art and Exhibition Space. But don\'t bother asking James or Joanne about Keith because they won\'t tell you. They let the work speak for itself.
