highsnobiety - Crank Messenger Bags

Straight from Tokyo, Crank makes custom hand-made messenger bags. Several styles and sizes, but always hand-made. With the current surge of interest in cycling the push for more (and the marketing of) ancillary product builds. Some nice looks from Crank should help them forge a foothold.

More examples of Crank messenger bags after the jump.

  1. messenger bags is style 1603 made by manhattan portage in 1996!!!

  2. Be Caranan:

First of all, I know Holly (the man who HAND-SEWS EACH BAG). He is a real-life Tokyo bike messenger who is constantly in dialogue with other messengers. In this way, he is always seeking to improve the quality of the bag — which is his main goal (not just for style). Obviously, you can\\\’t see the detail of the stitching, but it is CLEAN and durable.

If you want to debate originality then you better mention Globe Canvas and not just Manhattan Portage. Mention Eric Zo (who Holly is good friends with) who improved on the material design of the bag. My main point being he\\\’s not some kind of poseur capitalizing on the success of other bags. If a design works why knock it? Of course Manhattan Portage has their rightful place in history, but don\\\’t be so quick to make a hasty comparison. Bag #1603 is nylon. MP caters to a varied clientele. How open are they to changing their bag in order to fit the needs of couriers? If they do, how long would that take?
