Totally wicked catalog of BAPE gear this Holiday Season, courtesy of Isetan Department Store in Shinjiku, as part of their elegant re-imaging campaign; Isetan is no longer the stodgy, old store that was only held in high esteem by our parents and grandparents. The new face of Isetan is identified in terms of an assemblage of the best of the rare underground labels. Isetan Men (separate, adjacent building), from basement level to 6th floor, is an epic ascent up into a dreamscape of the edgiest designer labels in the world…most of the clothing, shoes, bags, and accessories you will find here are not just exclusive to Tokyo market but available at Isetan only! The BAPE Pop-up shop is pretty cool. On the 1st floor, the shop occupies interstitial space between the original old school Isetan building Original Isetan department store building at the edge of womens’ cosmetics, establishes a triangular perimeter, interrupting the main circulation passage to the newer Isetan Men building. This BAPE pop-up shop is in simplest terms a triangular wedge which juts out and engages all shoppers by virtue of architectural necessity and candy coated installation of 4 baby Nigo figures chillin’ in a pool of muti-colored Bapesta Bananas…storefront display takes its cue from the a visit to the primate section at the Zoo. Impossible to get even one of the Bapesta Bananas…it tried.
