Puma x Alexander McQueen Ribcage

puma alexander mcqueen ribcage front Puma x Alexander McQueen Ribcage

Born from the Puma/Alexander McQueen colab, the Ribcage is a convergence of sport versus anatomical influence. Anatomy has been the consistent inspirational theme since the colab between Puma and McQueen began. As the name suggests, this style takes its design cues from the human ribcage structure as well as Puma’s ninties running styles, creating a technical sports fashion appeal.

Two examples of this shoe are offered. The first is the Ribcage Lux. This style is the cleaner/simplier offering, which has an innovative embossed leather ‘cage’ eyestay and a technical mesh upper which subtly echos the tendons of the foot. The second is the Ribcage Sport which plays with brighter pop colours and has more obvious anatomical links with the tendon influence being clearly visible on the upper. The ‘Sport’ replaces the leather ‘cage’ eyestay found on the ‘Lux’ with a transparent TPU version for a sportier look.

Both styles are a sock construction, reminisent of the Puma Blaze of Glory, making them easy on/off shoes, laces add extra support. Both are accented with leather toe, heel and tongue with debossed logos. The Ribcage outsole is transparent TPU with McQueen’s foot (taken from a life cast of McQueen himself) visibly suspended inside.

Have a more detailed look at both the Lux and the Sport version of the Ribcage after the jump.
