For over 75 years the LACOSTE brand has been associated with Crocodiles.  It began in 1925, when Rene Lacoste, the founder of the brand, made a bet with Pierre Gillou, the French Davis Team Captain,  the prize being a crocodile skin suitcase that Rene had spotted in the shops of Boston.

To commemorate this association LACOSTE are releasing a collection of 9 shoes that celebrate the legend of Rene Lacoste and the Mythologies surrounding crocodiles around the world.

The shoes will be released over three months (April, May and June 2009) and will only be available from an exclusive selection of stores globally.

Here we present you the first series of shoes of the limited edition collection. The first set consists of the Lacoste Tiller, Tennis and Tennis 91. The Tiller was inspired by Egypt, the Tennis by Polynesia and the Tennis 91 was inspired by West Africa. We like the fact that the crocodile association does not always have to translate in only having to use crocodile leathers. The translation in the pack are smart, fresh and something new.

Each shoe is packaged in a special edition box and contains a booklet and postcard pack which outlines the stories behind the myth and the legend of Lacoste.

Detailed images of all three sneakers from the April release of the Lacoste Crocodile Mythology Collection, as well as a video follow after the jump.
