Sportmax Carte Blanche: Christoph Brunnquell

Sportmax, part of Italian high end brand Max Mara, involved Christophe Brunnquell, art director and International artist, to interpret the first chapter of Carte Blanche, a limited edition collection of 600 pieces. Brunnquell’s participation, focused on a monochrome abstractionism, is realized on wide tables and black jets of colour that show a universe populated by supernatural presences and ornamental patterns, little devils and jokes, half way between ironic and terrific. A conceptual art that plays with solids and shallows, creating daily items of strong personality.

The collection is developed in 3 types of models: a tunic, a top and a t-shirt realized with precious silk. The artist has been inspired in his work by traditional Japanese ghost (Yōkai) and – in synergy with Sportmax’s creative team – he created 3 cuts for the dresses that could recall to classic Japanese lines, by using pure shapes and rational volumes.

The collection has a very precise guidelines: Carte Blanche gives full power, leaves free initiative. Carte Blanche is the first limited edition collection of Sportmax in which the artist is the fulcrum of the decisional procedure.

Today the collection will be revealed for the first time in Milan, at an event taking place in the Sportmax flagship store. The artist also created a site installation and part of the store will act as an gallery, showing some of his other works. The showcase will be in store from April 2nd until April 8th. Only 50 pieces of the collection will be sold at the store, the rest will be exclusively available through the webstore – www.sportmax.it.
