As you all know, we are big fans of Junya Watanabe and today we get a first detailed look at the Japanese designers Spring/Summer 2010 Collection. The designer summed up the line with the word “snob”, which could of course not be more fitting.

“…perky variations of essentially one look: fitted plaid jacket, crisp and preppy shirt, cropped or cuffed pants and upper-crust accessories: ascots, pocket squares and small-brimmed hats. To the soothing melodies of Serge Gainsbourg, out strolled jackets – enough to outfit many a Scottish golf club – while a new collaboration with Mackintosh yielded handsome beige trench coats or parkas in vivid blues and forest greens. Suppressing his penchant for tricky, transforming garments – save for the odd hood attached to blazers – Watanabe turned snobbery into an approachable and stylish collection.”

We like the collection a lot. Our favorites include the Mackintosh collaboration trench coats, as well as the blazer turned technical jackets. Only very few stronger colors are used in the line, while the rest of it sticks to classic colors and looks. Another thing that we appreciate a lot is that one can actually wear most of the line, something that you cannot say about many collections shown on the runway.

Many more images of the Junya Watanabe Spring/Summer 2010 Collection follow after the jump.

  1. I\\\’m loving the ascot details in their entire ensemble. Bringing it back a la Chuck Bass/Ed Westwick style.

  2. Dan Chao:

Again, I love everything Junya puts out, I can see myself wearing each and every piece. Now I need to cough up the thousands of dollars.
