Union NYC Closes Its Doors

Union NYC Closes Its Doors
Union was established in 1989 at 172 Spring Street. The store was the first of its kind and pioneered a focus on what is now labeled “Streetwear”. In 2007, the shop moved to a larger location at 176 Spring Street. For 20 years, Union actively worked with a small selection of premier brands from around the world which catered to their view of contemporary menswear. Today, Union NYC closes their doors. Truly the end of an era. Their final release was the Union x Pegleg NYC x G-Shock Watch.

Stussy New York will be housed in the 176 Spring Street location, who will continue to carry OriginalFake. The Union name is survived by their LA counterparts.

Yeah it is sad cause that is such a good store. I was actually was
there that gshock is nice and at lease union went out with bang

  2. Spoonz20:

    Another victim of the recession

  3. loki:

this is not big news. union gets no business except when huge sales go on because of its rape prices. it had poor management and arrogant employees. this had nothing to do with the recession. these labels are still pushing out collections and people are still buying, just not from union.

  4. matt:

Its not due to the recession , or what you think is “poor customer service”. This was in the works several months ago, employees didnt even know about it . Stussy and Union are under the same ownership. When the lease ended on the stussy store, and the guy running it wanted too much money , it was just shut down , and from then on , the plan was to close union.

  5. FUCK Onion:

Union and it entire staff and mangment are a bunch of fuck tards that think (thought) they\’re breezy but in reality they are a lot of bitch ass homos that can\’t keep it street. Time to GTFO of NY.

  6. migueladobe:

The UNION folks have always been cool to me, great shop sad to see it go, but the old Stussy store was my favorite. Union and Supreme are the same owner, and his shops are the bomb.

  7. FUCKOnions just bitter he takes a d*ck in thebutt, Union guys have ALWAYS been fucking cool, and whatever the hell \’breezy\’ (what idiot uses that?) is, keeping it \’street,\’ theyre still working there you moron, its just a change of what theyre carrying. Some dudes in NY Cant get shit because theyre still thinking they run hot shit when their whole entire life is representing garbage.

  8. Alan:

I remember my first time in Union, knowing what clothes were sold there but was so taken back when the employee behind the desk looked like someone straight out of Williamsburg, BK. I just thought it was funny.

  9. Kevin:

Any one know if they will still stock Visvim?

  10. James:

Yeah whats the deal with Visvim and W) Taps? Is another store in NY going to be carrying them.

  11. MrBellwether:

Man this is bittersweet, cuz i missed Stussy but i got memories going back to HS about Union.
first time i seen an official Mitchell & Ness throwback was at Union back in 98, couldnt afford shyt back then eventually i was able 2. i didnt really like the staff though but i have that complain about most Streetwear and Sneaker spots in Soho.

  12. zach:

WTF?!?!?!?!?!? Are you talking about, Union had the best management and staff, it was a great store, I\’m gonna be real tho, that some of the things they where selling became wack over time, i think they where best when everything was more under ground and we didn\’t see all these posers wearing there cheap nike sb\’s and H&M on, these days the industry is becoming worse and worse and more commercial as well…

  13. chefwonder:

man it\\\\\\\’s sad news to hear Union be shutting dem doors. i was glad i got to check the spot a month ago. dudes in there were hella cool wen i went, its surprising to hear others complain about the service, they crazy too i remember them having a conversion about some a bunch of latino guys mobbing this one dude and he explaining like \\\\
