That whole Hennessey incident was ridiculous, just before he took a seat he even offered Joe Jackson of all people a swig of it, Joe Jackson declined.

The funny thing is, the second I heard of this Hennessey thing I immediately thought of a line from Tupac’s “Until the end of time” in which an inebriated Tupac battles his inner demons… “And in the end drinking Hennessey made all my enemies envy me…” I was like wow, talking about life imitating art (in terms of Kanye doing the same thing)…

And can I just say once? A VMA award? I mean an MTV Awards Ceremony? I mean he was blatantly walking around with a bottle of Henn? Doesn’t that say enough about the legitimacy of the event?

It’s been a number of weeks since the now notorious VMA incident. Although it is very difficult to argue the douchebaggery of Kanye’s actions (for which we are all in agreement) I think its very easy to constantly call him out on it. Though this is how you may feel, Nathan, you indeed are not the first to say so. In my opinion this book has nothing to do with his actions, at the least not as much as the fifth of Hennessy he downed that night. I received the Glow In The Dark Tour version of Thank You and You’re Welcome and it’s contents was filled with very helpful advice and insights regarding anyone with ambitions, goals, and aspirations and especially pertaining to relationships and situations you’ll encounter along the way. One page for example being “If no one is trying to use you, your useless – a page of advice in regards to being too defensive over getting used.” Musician’s an artists have long been accused of negatively influence the youth and society. I agree some of Kanye’s actions and statements not only have been rude, egotistical and childish. But more importantly, it is those same actions and statements that have overshadowed his accomplishments and impact on society and pop culture. Kanye has helped many artists gain more prominence (Common, Mos Def, Jamie Fox, Jay-Z). Kanye has revitalized many different sounds from the sped up soul classics to infusion of 80s electro to the sampling of Steely Dan. While other artists are pumping out the garbage to make the hot dollar (Lil Wayne, T-Pain, etc.) Kanye West is indeed a positive influential musical artist. Unfortunately, he has a disgustingly over-sized ego that ever so often brings out the douche bag everyone can be.

his ego way out of control but he still does good work, many famous artists aren’t the best human beings. his insecurity is what drives him so be it. him throwing some shine bill plympton’s way is also something i can back. no one has ever irked me over so bad as to make me write an essay on a blog post comment. who cares?

i disagree with you with “hes whats hot”….

like Nathan said, everybody has to get off his nuts…

don’t get me wrong…i’m a die hard kanye fan…but the stuff hes been producing lately is just ridiculous…all his blog posts are just random artistic stuff and fashion lines, rarely with any sort of insight along with his pictures…even his air yeezies, one of the highly anticipated sneakers this year, weren’t that great…the grey and tan colored ones were just atrocious, but the black ones were okay, still not deserving of the attention it got though.

A true artist who respects his own work would not try to gain $$ like he would…making collaborations with high end brands and shit like that…

i am a fan of kanye’s music…not his lifestyle….PEACE

To Nathan:
We are though, compared to our parents generation and generations prior to us we are all ragingly self-indulgent, preposterous, tone deaf and we dress “how we want to in order to express ourselves”, which means that some will dress like Pee-wee Herman let loose. The sooner you realize this the sooner you will understand Kanye is the epitome of this, just with a lot more money so that is why he seems that much more far fetched.

People seriously need to get off Kanye West’s nuts. I’m not being a hater: a hater is someone who knocks the achievements of others out of jealousy, with no argument to back it up.

What I’m saying is that Kanye’s behaviour is that of a spoilt toddler, and, like a toddler’s tantrums, it needs to be discouraged. We’re talking about a 32-year-old man who seriously thinks that it’s okay to hijack a teenage girl’s award acceptance speech (his third awards ceremony tantrum, by the way). This is a grown man who types online rants in capital letters. A man who compares his treatment by the paparazzi to that of Princess Diana (she was hounded to her death; he had some photos taken of him). A man who claims to have invented Pop Art twenty years after Andy Warhol’s death, who thinks that using 40 exclamation marks in a row makes you look serious, who says that if the Bible was rewritten today he would be in it, and who genuinely believes that he should have won the 2006 MTV Europe Video Awards just because he “wanted to”.

And now he thinks you should give a sh*t about his “epiphany of realizing exactly who he had become” (the answer, by the way, is “a giant douche”). In all seriousness, this kind of behaviour needs to be shot down. The only thing worse than colossal, self-indulgent arrogance is when it’s coupled with an unapologetic attitude of “Yeah I’m arrogant, but so what? I’m just being honest.” You’re not being honest, you’re being a twat. Everyone says what they mean most of the time: they just try not to say it in a way that irritates everyone else. Kanye claims he has to constantly say how great he is because no one else would do it. Mate, if no one is saying you’re great, it may just be because you’re not.

If dude was a 3-year-old child, you’d tell him off – but at least then his behaviour would be appropriate for his age. People need to stop encouraging this conceited douchehole. He might claim to be the “voice of a generation”, but that’s only true if we’re a generation of ragingly self-indulgent, preposterous, tone deaf f*ckwits who dress like Pee-wee Herman let loose in a fancy-dress shop in space. Which, hopefully, we’re not.
