Nike Sportswear Pegasus 89 “Berlin” | A Further Look

Nike Sportswear Pegasus 89 "Berlin" | A Further Look

After a first announcement last week, we get one step closer to revealing the upcoming Nike Sportswear Pegasus 89 “Berlin”. Unfortunately you will still need to wait a little to see the final result.

To accurately reduce Berlin to a single image is close to mission impossible, thanks to its multi-textured structure, its fragmentation into subcentres and vibrant youth culture – or vivid subculture, to be precise – Berlin developed its very own dynamic and vibe. Over the last two decades in particular, the city turned into a symbol – a canvas for change.

The dominant color of the Pegasus89 ‘Berlin’ pays tribute to the city as an urban playground with countless playing fields. It offers the complement color a perfect platform to rise and shine.

A further look follows after the jump.

  1. Tim:

You can see the final version of the shoe in its reflection on the shinny black surface.
Looks like a lot of purple near inside heel, upper back area around ankle, laces, stitching, and tip to the toe of the sole. The rest looks to be variants of grey, black, and white. The berlin wall concrete texture appears on the swoosh. Some of the white hits on the shoe could possibly be 3M reflective material.

  2. Tim:

I rotated and flipped the reflection, enhanced the brightness and contrast, and uploaded the picture here: http://bit.ly/3eP5Im

This will give you a good idea of what the final shoe will look like.

  3. Grover:

Where will i get this in Berlin since Solebox and Nort don’t sell Nike anymore

  4. Wait a little more and we will tell you!

  5. Tim, nice job on that and we can tell you that you are not far off there. Soon we can show you the full shoe!

  6. Rob:

why dont nort and solebox sell nike anymore?

  7. Nort closed and Solebox does not sell Nike anymore, who really knows why!

  8. [...] hatten euch den geheimnisvollen Flyer vor etlichen Tagen präsentiert und nun hat Highsnobiety das erste Foto des Pegasus 89 “Berlin” am Start. Man kann jetzt nicht wirklich viel [...]

  9. Why closed Nort!?

  10. Hikmet:

We know why we do not sell Nike anymore.
    And Nike knows too.

  11. Of course you know Hikmet, but its not really our place to speak about your business!

  12. the more important question is will these be available outside germany?

  13. [...] haben wir bei highsnobiety ein weiteres Bild des Nike Pegasus 89 “Berlin” entdeckt. Der Schuh wurde eigens zum 20. [...]

  14. [...] Well now isn’t this an intriguing little teaser? If you haven’t guessed we here at KOF are huge Pegasus fans and well this color way hints at something that is more than promising. Commemorating two decades of the Berlin wall being gone chances are these won’t be a stateside release. From what we can make out its a black upper with purple contrast stitching and a swoosh done up to look like a piece of the Berlin wall. If you look in the reflection you can see some accenting white and/or grey. Pretty sweet, anybody else excited? via HS [...]

  15. They will be available outside of Germany, just later on…

  16. ryan:

love the inherent irony and nike’s sophisticated reference to the collapse of soviet communism and the end of the cold war.

all of the kiddies on hypebeast and high snob are probably looking at the colorway. is anyone looking at the historical and social ramifications of the berlin wall?

free market capitalism now spreads to more places…more shops to sell nike sneakers.
