18K Gold Casio x Art Is The Alibi G-Shock DW-6900 | The Quasi

18K Gold Casio x Art Is The Alibi G-Shock DW-6900 | The Quasi

Over the years we have seen many custom works on the iconic Casio G-Shock DW-6900. Pharrell Willimans, Kanye West and Nigo have showed off pimped versions of the watch, usually using heavy metals and stones. One can say that the concept is not entirely new. Jan Mihm and Charlie Müller of Berlin based Art Is The Alibi now also took a shot at the watch. The cover of the case has been removed and replaced with a 18k solid gold cover. The mix of 18k gold and an otherwise rather in-expensive plastic watch has always been intriguing. Obviously the watch does not come cheap – priced at 19′000 Euros (28′000 USD), the watch is limited to 25 pieces and will be exclusively available at colette and also through Art Is The Alibi.

We had the pleasure of checking out the watch live a couple of months ago and the execution and craftsmanship is perfect. If it is worth the price, you have to decide for yourself.

More images of the watch follow after the jump.

  1. BENJI:

    BOOOORRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGG !!!!!!!!!

  2. Love it!!

A zillion times better than all those other endless Casio colabo watches….

  3. are you serious?

  4. I think they should’ve used a plain black one.
What’s up with all these colors, black, blue, orange white.
That kind of ruins it for me, otherwise solid gold is always a good look.

  5. Charlie:

    Ugly as fuck.
I wouldn’t wear it even if I was paid.
Nixon watches are the only ones worht coping

  6. [...] This watch is stupid. Yes, ridiculously retarded. This Casio G Shock is easily the best customized G Shock to ever be customized. Sorry Pharrell, you were out done on this piece right here. If I was already on and making numerous figures and seeing multiple commas, this would be on my left wrist as of now. An 18k gold piece, damn I love gold. Limited to 25 pieces and priced at 19,000 Euros equaling 28,000 US Dollars, it seems I’m assed out. Props to the Snobs. [...]

  7. I guess none of you have ever been to a real jeweler because 28,000 is the most outrageous price for this EVER. you could get a regular black DW-6900 and take it to your jeweler and get it done for maybe 2,000 TOPS. On top of that the concept is old as hell who would want to spend that much now. C’mon man…its a G-shock…im not payin 28000 for a gshock and there are no diamonds? Are you serious. The band is still RUBBER!!! i know there are expensive watches out there with rubber bands but the inner workings are much more complex than the digital board on a g-hock. Dont let the hype get you
