Japanese gaming giant Sony makes a strong play for Nintendo Wii market share with their latest announcement. The PlayStation Move motion controller (for PS3) functions much like Nintendo’s Wii Remote and Nunchuck, working in conjunction with the PlayStation Eye camera and a sub-controller – though Sony claims their version is much more accurate. And you can play in HD. We’ll have to wait and see if this can compete with a traditional controller/Wii gaming. The PlayStation Move releases sometime this Fall.
Sony PlayStation Move video follows after the click along with more shots of the controller.
But what other way is there to advertise that sort of product w/o showing it in use and its different in-game functions?

far superior to the Nintendo Wii remote though
and Nintendo copied too. Any ‘mainstream’ idea that Sony or Nintendo or Microsoft uses is ALWAYS proven on a small-scale with computers first.

It may be a complete rip off of the nintendo wii controllers, but they look siccck. Sony will have done a much better job with everything – Unlike the wii where the graphics havent changed since 1980.

Go watch the E3 demo of this, from last year. This technology looks similar to the Wii, but really, it’s technically far more advanced. It will be able to sense depth, and read true 1:1 motion. The camera reads the ping pong ball’s distance. Imagine being able to shine a flash light underneath a bed, in some FPS. You couldn’t really do that with a Wii.
