Today we present you the second new footwear style that New York brand Amongst Friends will be introducing with their Spring 2011 Collection, next to the Work Boots that we showcased last week.
Sneakers inspired by boots, hiking boots or duck boots is not an entirely new concept. With the rise of workwear and heritage inspired product, we have seen this being a strong trend in the sneaker market. The “Duckies” by Amongst Friends fall 100% into that category, mixing the silhouette and outer sole of a sneaker with the design elements of the duck boot. We still believe that this is one of the best ones in the category, as we appreciate the good choice of colors, materials, the minimal branding and the overall silhouette. They will come in two colorways and will be released in the coming months.

OR you can get the original being sold in stores now. By almost the exact same name. Steve Madden’s Mens line dropped this shoe before the holidays. Their mens brand has been building up and is being seen a lot more in tradeshow highlights on stylesight and WGSN. They are someone who you should be paying attention to moving forward in the future.

Well Aaron, that actually couldn’t have happened. AF is just showing the shoe now and placing orders to deliver in Fall 11′.
How can you copy a sample in January 2011 to be placed in stores in November 2010? Some how that timing doesnt add up. Where is the time for production? China is quick, but not that quick. Next thing you will tell me is that their Red Wing knocked off their boots too.

It is funny that you idiot sneaker heads will buy this shoe from AF for the logo even though its cheaper materials and construction than the original. You are the reason quality has dropped, because you know no better. SM could never be featured here just because of the logo, even though their product is made much better.
Gotta love the new generation of consumer, such product knowledge.
does the name albert ring any bells? maybe a quick camera phone pic while in the showroom? factories and designers can do wonders with just a quick pic these days. all good tho because like you said SM would never be featured on a site like this because its made for corn balls. dont think i didnt know who you were when you were in our booth and u ran off after i asked who you were. also if you are going to refer to everyone on this site as idiot sneaker heads, maybe you shouldn’t even bother visiting this site…oh yea, you have to, so you can find new ideas! keep up the great work SM!
Wow! why would someone come to this site. Insult the readers,accuse Amongst friends of taking something they came up with and then try to say that Steve Madden is too good for this site!
Wow! By the way Amongst friends is using better materials the madden and have a higher retail price. all one has to do is look at the content labels and see that Amongst Friend has leather uppers and SM is mainly synthetic of combination leather 51% synthetic 49% just they can say it has leather! Consumers and readers of this site are more knowledgeable of brands and product out on the market , and prefer to go a brand that is hyped about and has substance, then the brand with the bigger marketing budget!
Gotta love the new generation that actually researches brands before buying it , instead just goes with a add in a magazine.
Like everyone else here I hate people who just come here to hate. Im not trying to do that at all, nor am i saying SM is too good for this website. Quite the contrary actually, the name steve madden isnt good enough for this website, it seems. Highsnobette, maybe because its womens, but for any guy here to give SM time of day would be a surprise to me. Which was why i pointed this shoe out. Just thought for a change of pace the “trendy” sneaker head brand knocking off the “machine” was kinda funny.
As for the name albert ringing any bells, sorry it doesnt. Not sure if you referencing magic or compass but wasnt at either of them, so keep guessing. Even if i was, how could the shoe be at retail already? If you are anyone in the industry, you know this is impossible.
And better material? check your sources again. suede is cheaper than leather. and canvas is certainly cheaper. so if your paying more than 100$ for this AF version then all power to you. But its not material your paying for.
The reason i posted on this is because i wanted everyone to see that good ideas come from everywhere. Not just your favorite brands. HS is a great site that allows all of us to tap into trends happening world wide, of course everyone comes here for ideas, and for what the next thing is.
