The Land Rover Defender has become an icon, a legend, in the car industry and loved among purists. Ever since being released many years ago, the design has been hardly changed, thus replacing the Defender will be one of the hardest tasks for the car manufacturer.
At the Frankfurt Auto Show next month, Land Rover will be revealing the Defender DC100 Concept, their first attempt at a new design of the car. The DC100 is not a production concept, but rather a first base to develop on for the next 4 years, with an official release being planned for 2015.
This first concept will for sure start some heated discussions in the tight knit Land Rover Defender community.

i’d rather them retire the defender than replace it with this toy.
Certainly looks that they are giving up on producing a proper off-road vehicle.
I wlll give them the benefit of the dought and wait till the final design.
Hopefully they will come to their senses and don’t give up on producing a work horse.
All rumors but I’ve heard of air suspension and no live axels, if that’s true, it’s not a good start.
If they are serious about producing an iconic 4×4, then I’d like to see this DC100 being driven in the outback of Australia day after day, (low profile tires, nice shiny rims, HUMMMMMM…..who needs a 4×4 in the city….?????)
