Banksy Artwork for Occupy London Movement

The Occupy London Movement has received a nice gift in the form of a sculpture from none other than artist Banksy it seems. The artist presents his take on the Monopoly game with Uncle Pennybags looking for a handout. The artwork is standing at St.Paul’s Cathedral as a show of support for the protest against corporate greed and corruption.

this site is the shit! you promote multibillion dollar brands (e.g. nike, adidas, supreme, whomever) and also the wallstreet protest? f* insane, where do you think those greedy people get their invest money from??? RIGHT ITS YOU GUYS!

    ha ha

  5. banksy:

until banksy posts this on his blog, i wont believe for a minute that it’s his work. i used to read highsnobette.com, but this completely discredits you all. you’re posting something that you haven’t even considered the source about! ten years ago, when karmaloop was starting, they would have supported occupy. and now, they play along with it. i worked for karmaloop for a year. at first, it seemed like the next best thing. now, i find myself disgusted in the people that the CEO’s thought would be a good representation of their company.

He got it wrong, the people who want a handout are those who are protesting.

soooo….these comments seem to be ubiquitous wherever I go to find this story. Where’s the source on this artist being BANKSY por favor?

This is cool art, whoever did it… I think that the main idea is being missed here, that is the message behind it, disregarding the artist behind it. Banksy doesn’t associate his name to all his artwork because the purpose is the art itself, not if it’s his or not… No one know WHO is Bansky anyway, so, why bother about the author here, honestly? This feels almost as if we had to know if it is Banksy’s or not so we can measure how much we like it…

  11. banksy:

my argument has nothing to do with the art. its about the way its being transmitted to the world. what if you were the artist that actually did this and got no credit? or what if you were banksy and were being labeled as something you aren’t, all at the expense of sites like this that want to get a quick hit by using his name? im not saying this isnt an ingenious work of art…it’s just upsetting how organizations/corporations/websites manipulate their facts at the expense of others.
