Once again the entire Japanese fashion scene seems to have decided that Fall/Winter 2011 was the Harris Tweed season. We will never understand how this works, but everybody collaborated this season with the traditional fabric maker, including WTAPS.

Releasing this week is the Lumber Jacket, featuring a colorful check wool upper. Furthermore the Bullitt Jacket will release, along with matching gloves and hat. Each item features a Harris Tweed logo tag and nice detailing, just like we are used to see from WTAPS. Even though there seem to have been many Harris Tweed items this last season, these are certainly among our favorite.

Another highlight in the line-up of visvim New Year 2011-2012 items is the return of the popular visvim FBT JP mid top sneaker. Only a couple of years ago the production of the shoe returned to Japan, resulting in a quality upgrade, yet of course also in a price increase. This time the sneaker comes in a premium UK cowhide suede, in a series of colors, ranging from more subtle sand, black and light brown to more colorful versions in red and light blue.

visvim has a bunch of interesting new product releases coming out for the New Year, which we can already present you today. First of all their beautiful Elmendorf leather jacket returns made from Horween leather this time. The classic A-2 flight jacket comes in a beautiful brown/burgundy tone and features a Windstopper lining. These come in such limited quantities, that designer Hiroki Nakamura signs each on of them on a special label.

Moncler seems to be working on several interesting new collaborations these days. First they teamed up with Berlin based Mykita on sunglasses and today we get a first look at their collaboration with luggage brand Rimowa on a suitcase.

While keeping the trademark aluminium case of the Rimowa suitcase, handles and the entire interior have been outfitted with the iconic Moncler nylon down fabric. Furthermore the brand’s logo has been placed on the upper of the suitcase. The suitcase is now available from the Moncler Aoyama flagship store.

We already previewed the Jil Sander python print t-shirts, here is now a look at the python iPad Show Bag. Rather than only being a case, the added straps turn the piece into a wearable bag.

“This strapped body-bag is crafted from finely-detailed python print leather, in a futuristic shade of blue. Taking its lead from the document bags worn by travellers, it hints of the youthful and often nomadic nature of the designer’s style. The piece is designed to fit an iPad and can be carried around the neck via one of two straps, the other of which is designed to secure the piece around the waist.”

The bag is now in stock at Oki-Ni.

In an interesting new collaboration, Neighborhood gets together with store Heather Grey Wall. Presented are two versions of the Thunderbolt Jacket, one featuring a technical Diaplex shell and the other one heat resistant Dynamo material shell. The black and beige jackets, designed by Neighborhood for Kazuki Kuraishi’s store, will release early 2012 at both the Neighborhood stores in Tokyo and of course at Heather Grey Wall.

Based on a viral video that made the rounds in 2010, the new movie Bad Ass was produced, starring Danny Trejo. For now it does not seem to be clear when the film will actually release, if it will go to festivals or to theaters. We will keep you posted. Italian car maker Faralli & Mazzanti present their new Evantra sports car. The new and rather small car maker presents a mid-engine sports car with the Evantra, which comes with engines of up to 595 hp. A price of the car has not been announced yet, but only 5 unites will be produced in 2012.

After an arduous mission to launch the BNE Water Foundation, the organization ultimately procured its official NPO status and is now fully functional. BNE’s project is an admirable one that is currently engaged in fulfilling its promise to provide access to clean water and sanitation to over 100,000 people in an impoverished area of Indonesia. Their ultimate goal is to raise over $500,00 before March 1st in order to make this all happen.
