We are genuinely looking forward to the release of Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi movie “Prometheus.” It is apparent that others are, too, including artist Midnight Marauder who has created 12 conceptual movie posters for the film. These are not official posters, but they’re really impressive nonetheless, in fact, 20th Century Fox might want to look into utilizing some of these.

In a pretty interesting get together, French artist JR has teamed up with Chinese artist Liu Bolin on a collaborative artwork in New York City. JR is known for his beautiful large scale works around the globe, while Liu Bolin is known for making himself disappear or make invisible on interesting backgrounds. Not long ago, we reported about Liu Bolin working with fashion designers Gaultier, Elbaz and others.
First the French artist wheat-pasted up a photo mural of Liu and now, we get to see the Chinese artist return the favor and camouflage JR into his own art with his signature touch. Bolin had to paint JR’s entire body, including the face to make it work. The outcome is beautiful and the team-up is a match made in heaven.

Today we take a look inside the upcoming Louis Vuitt / Marc Jacobs book by Rizzoli, the official publication releasing in conjunction with the current exhibition at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Paris. The book presents the roles two men have played in turning a small workshop in nineteenth-century Paris into one of the most successful and recognized brands in the world.
“Known for both craftsmanship and must-have high design, Louis Vuitton the luxury house was started by its eponymous founder in 1854. The first half of this publication traces the innovations by Vuitton, who turned the little-known guild profession of emballeur (packer) into the foremost luxury trunk maker in Paris, with a clientele that included in his lifetime the French nobility as well as the elite of a prosperous empire. Prime and never-before-seen examples of Vuitton’s craftsmanship, along with the fashion that went into them, are the highlights of these chapters. The second half of the book examines the role of Marc Jacobs as Louis Vuitton’s creative director (since 1997), who took the Louis Vuitton house into a new era with a series of collaborations with artists and designers—such as Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, and Stephen Sprouse—as well as designing a line of highly successful and desired clothing for the company.
By examining two divergent but often similar careers one hundred years apart, Louis Vuitton / Marc Jacobs is not only a layered study of the evolution of a luxury brand in the past 150 years but also a celebration of technical and design innovations in the new century.”
Written by Pamela Golbin, the curator of the exhibition, the book is coming to stores April 2012. Here below you can check out a video of curator Pamela Golbin takes fashion journalist Louise Roe to the tour of the ‘Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs’ exhibition, in display in Paris at the moment.
Here above you see the deluxe edition of the book, sold at Louis Vuitton stores.

We just showed you a couple of love inspired murals from D*Face, but it looks like the artist was a bit busier than we initially thought. While in New York, it looks like he pulled a hat trick of murals with a third work called “Grim Tales” starring the Grim Reaper. Take a look at his other two murals here, and check out this third one in our gallery.
