Puma x Biomega Summer 2010 Bike Range

15 July 2010, 20.25 | Posted in Bikes | No comments »

Puma Bikes

Puma and Biomega have announced the launch of Puma Bikes, a full range of collaborative bikes by the two brands.

“The 5 models in the 2010 PUMA Bike range are Disko, Funk, Nevis (Man & Lady) and Pico.

The Disko bike features a locking system integrated as part of the structural framework of the bike, intend to both safeguard the bike from theft and simplify the commuting process by alleviating the need for a separate lock.

The Funk let’s you switch between a fixed gear and a single gear. It has 28” wheels and mixes city bike features and track bike features to create a new typology.

The Nevis (Man & Lady) mixes city bike features with those of a cruiser designed to hold the body in a laid back, upright position. Large, comfortable and sturdy, the bike comes with the option of a innovative front carrier for transport of everyday needs. Featuring lightweight aluminum frame, Shimano Acera 8 speed gear set and unique color blocking, the bike is the perfect ride in any city.

The Pico is a unisex with a fashionable twist of bold color blocking. The bike features a lightweight aluminum frame, Shimano Acera 8 speed gear set and the option of an oversized front carrier. Small, sturdy and convertible, the Pico Bike references a BMX style bike but holds the body of any upright.”

While we have always liked the Puma x Biomega range, mostly for the ease of use and comfort, we have to add here that it is a little scary that the most interesting thing that Puma is coming out with these days is actually a bike and not a sneaker.

Many more images of the new bikes follow after the jump.

Rust Heap BMX Bike

Rust Heap BMX Bike

Today we are introducing Rust Heap, a multi-brand collaboration BMX bike that was over a year in the making. Brought together by longtime BMX pro Mike Ardelean and Tim Swart of UNIV, the two friends connected their network of eight other friendly brands to build a customized project bike. The entire collaborative brand roster includes Verde, UNIV, Odyssey, Duo, Defgrip, Ludwig Van, G-Sport and The Laboratory. The bike was put to the test this past weekend by pros Mike Ardelean, Jim Bauer and Gary Young.

Rust Heap features the highest quality parts from the various collaborative partners. The Verde Cartelframe/fork/bars were painted by The Laboratory to look like rust. It was given many layers of paint in different textures over a multi-week period to achieve the look of something that had been pulled from the bottom of the ocean. The custom-made UNIV head badge adds to the bike’s D.I.Y. personality.

The bike is now on display at Univ. Check out the bike in more detail, as well as some action shots, after the jump.

Bike by Me - The Bike You Like

Though nearly identical in concept to Jellybean Bikes, Bike by Me is another step towards simplicity in the custom colored bike game. The brand launched earlier this month, with it’s home base in Sweden. Visit the Bike by Me site and see what you can come up with. We can only hope the name was somewhat inspired by 50 Cent.

Take a look at some more Bike by Me possibilities after the jump.

Abici Leather Coated Bike Chains

Italian brand Abici has released their leather coated bike chains and matching locks. The chain comes with a butter soft leather coating. Matching the lock is also wrapped in the same leather, featuring a subtle logo embossed on it. For the summer these are probably the most elegant way of locking your bike. With time the leather will only get nicer. The Abici bike chains are now available from Soto Berlin.
