Electric Door Magazine

28 June 2007, 16.14 | Posted in Books & Magazines | No comments »

RTEmagicC electricdoor magazine.jpg Electric Door Magazine
We just came across a new pdf magazine called Electric Door. They just released their Volume 1.
“The first volume of Electric Door is mainly concerned with the ascent of certain labels from the gutter of streetwear into the golden paved realms of high fashion. In our current state whereby we don’t even know what to call it, we try to give you, the streetwear obsessive an insight into what we define as streetwear and what it will eventually become.
We look back to the beginning of streetwear with the historical Stussy World Tribe, Supreme’s humble beginnings and interview James Lebon. ”
Read in their first volume about Visvim, Supreme, the Stussy Tribe, High Fashion Streetwear collabs and more. While you might have seen already all the products, Electric Door gives some great background knowledge on some of your favorite brands and has some nice interviews worth reading! Via uSnob.
Check it out here.

Frank151 – French Edition Launches

31 May 2007, 14.39 | Posted in Books & Magazines | 1 comment »

frank151 france Frank151 French Edition Launches
Frank151 started off in 1999 as a school assignment to create an original publication. The creation of a pocket sized book of high quality was the idea and its founders have achieved something very special since then, creating a new platform for creatives and companies, many of which have their roots in the streetculture. Nowadays Frank151 still sticks to the same principles that they had since day one and you will only find the book/magazine in independent stores, that have similar ideas than the ones the magazine wants to communicate.
Now we are in 2007 and Frank151 opens a new chapter, after also recently opening their first retail outlet in New York City, Frank’s Chop Shop. Frank151 launches their French Edition. Expect the same quality material, but with the European flavor. Once again the magazine can only be picked up at selected locations  – expect it to pop up at stores such as Lazy Dog, Colette, Black Rainbow, Starcow and others.
The first French Edition is designed like a French Champaign Bottle – we could not imagine a better idea. A few weeks ago we were in Paris and had the pleasure of reading the first issue and one can only congratulate the French team, as they really managed to create their very own Frank151. Congratulations!
Check out after the jump some pagespreads to give you an idea about the first issue.

RTEmagicC 200705202336407.jpg Kangol x Junya Watanabe Man
Here we have a good look at the recent collaboration of Kangol and Junya Watanabe Man. Once again the Japanese designer perfectly fuses a classic with his own style, updating it carefully to fit todays fashion standards and his own collection.
The hat features a satin upper, looking close to the material used on baseball jackets. The white stripe reminds one of a race car. The Kangol logo is embroidered in a bold red on the front and the side of the hat. The interior in contrary stays in classic Kangol style with a checker pattern.
The hat was available in the Touch Store. They also got in a new Base Control Messenger bag of which you will also find pictures after the jump, along with more detailed pictures of the hat.

Uniqlo just released the second edition of their online magazine – Uniqlo Paper. Once again they present an interesting mix of articles in the publication. They present the recently launched UT project, explain the production process of their high quality denim, present a collection of basic goods that they offer in store and also did an Interview with Juelz Santana. Otherwise they show the Uniqlo active gear and also the more sophisticated styles they have in their collections.
Definitely a great publication to read through. So, check it out here. Some sample pics after the jump.

For the latest Issue of Arkitip they got together with iconic NYC photographer Ricky Powell.
“The only things I’ve seen him care about are: sports, animals, his friends, his camera, and puffing. Otherwise everything and everyone else can suck it. It’s a simple life that not only he, but also everyone around him feels comfortable with (thus allowing him to document some of the greatest people and moments in Nyc culture).”
The new Issue comes with Ricky’s Italian Espresso Coffee Blend, produced exclusively for this edition of Arkitip. Other contributors of the issue include Henrik Vibskov, Yoga Tennis, Guillaume Wolf, Jim Stoten and others.
As usual it is a limited edition of 1′500 and is now available for 30 USD.
