Kanye West’s Los Angeles Crib

Kanye West's Los Angeles Crib

Now that Kanye’s place in Los Angeles is for sale, one gets a nice look inside the place. What we see does actually not surprise us very much. Pop art, Kaws toys, cartoon characters and more are mixed with modern Italian furniture and B&O sound systems. Of course there is also a good amount of Takashi Murakami in the place, an artist that Kanye has been into for a while already. By the way, if you are interested, the place is for sale for about 4 Million USD. Even though some of the art and also the furniture is great, the mix does not work for us 100%. It just seems a bit cold overall.

Take a detailed look at Kanye’s Ex-LA home after the jump.

The Selby Visits Philippe and Jasmine Starck

The Selby is back with another impressive feature. This time Todd visited Philippe Starck and wife Jasmine at home. It is always great getting some behind-the-scenes insight on people like Starck. We have to say that we are also surprised to see his place being such a “creative mess”. See the full feature here.

More images from Philippe Starck’s home follow after the jump.

Maison Martin Margiela “The Maison in a Room” at Milan Design Week 2010

Maison Martin Margeila The Maison in a Room at Milan Design Week 2010

Design Boom reports on Maison Martin Margeila’s contribution to Milan Design Week 2010.

“the atmosphere of the room draws on his iconographic use of black and white furniture, objects, fabrics and textures. trompe l’oeil walls of this parisian apartment show a fireplace, doors and carved wood panels to build on the space’s personality.

referencing the coloring games played by children, the walls are displayed with partially empty numbered zones to be re-colored in different shades of grey and silver. safes are half hidden behind classical paintings to display jewelry while sunglasses are presented on the eyes of surrealistic dolls.

‘the maison in a room’ is occupied by additional designs by margiela including: his complete collection of home objects edited by ENO, the maison martin margiela book published by rizzoli, ‘untitled’ his first fragrance for women, his jewelry collection, his complete collection of ‘incognito’ sunglasses and his hand-knotted wool and silk rug  which came out of his collaboration with chevalier édition.”

“The Maison in a Room” is on display until May 30, 2010 at 10 Corso Como, Milan.

Stone Island x Zanotta Silver Pure Metal “Sacco” Chair

Stone Island x Zanotta "Sacco" Chair

Stone Island has worked with prestigious international design firm Zanotta on the “Metamorfosi” project. The outcome is an interesting mix of Stone Island’s innovative materials and Zanotta’s designs. One example of the fusion of the two, is the Silver Pure Metal “Sacco” chair that you see here above.

“Aldo Petillo, with Andrea Dichiara, has created a link between Stone Island, which has always been a lodestar in materials research for clothing, and Zanotta, a prestigious international design firm.

The metamorphosis of the celebrated Zanotta “Sacco” chair, becomes a body to dress and a place for dialogue. Each object is neither a Zanotta ‘Sacco’ chair, nor a Stone Island jacket, but a METAMORPH, similar to a sculpture, yet without all the difficulties of volume and perception that the sculpture presents.”

Many more objects from this interesting collaboration, are exhibited in Milan this week. Check the flyer after the jump.

hearty Magazine x Jeff Staple "This Is Not a T-Shirt" Sticker-02One of our favorite female-focused online publications, hearty Magazine, worked with Jeff Staple on a collaborative sticker. Entitled “This Is Not a T-Shirt”, the sticker features a doodle of a heart on a blue notebook background, touching on the nostalgia of “being a kid and collecting stickers and sticking them everywhere from notebooks to skateboards (and sometimes in the streets).” The sticker will be available March 29th at Reed Space New York and online at hearty.
