Wallpaper x Victorinox Swiss Army Knifes

Wallpaper x Victorinox Swiss Army Knifes

After recently presenting to you the Dover Street Market collaboration with Victorinox, we show you the Wallpaper collaboration with the Swiss Army Knife maker today. Overall they worked on three knifes, one designed by themselves and the other ones designed by British designer James Joyce and Jamie Cullen.

“Both known for their bold illustrative approaches, Cullen and Joyce seemed like ideal candidates for the role, selected by Wallpaper’s Art Director, Merion Pritchard to ‘create an elemental design that expressed the beauty of its craftsmanship and function in a visual and tactile way’.

The result speaks for itself. Encased in untreated wood, the Wallpaper* Swiss Army Knife features undulating contour lines etched into the surface. An accurate representation of the mountainous landscape of Ibach in Switzerland – where the Victorinox factory is based – the image is a tactile link to the home of the Swiss Army Knife itself – an intuitive addition which only goes to epitomise Wallpaper’s distinctive design approach.”

For the occasion a Wallpaper x Victorinox pop-up store has opened on New Bond Street in London. Limited to 100 pieces each, some of the knifes will also be sold through Wallpaper.com.

Many detailed images of all three knifes and the packaging follow after the jump.

K1X – 4 Elements 4 Icons 4 Basketballs | Frank 151 Featuring Stay High 149

After recently presenting to you the Marok Basketball from the K1X “4 Elements 4 Basketballs” series, we can give you an exclusive first look at the second part of the project. For K1X’s limited artist series Frank 151 let Stay High 149 do his interpretation of the element AIR. In order to reflect the lightness of this element the ball was kept very basic and simple. An all white ball made out of high-end pu leather with grey channels and the logos of Frank 151 and Wayne Roberts with silver outline stamped on one side and his legendary “smoker tag” in silver on the other give this unique basketball its light look and make it one of a kind.

Next ones up are Bill Mc Mullen (Fire) and Mode2 (Earth). All four balls are strictly limited to 444 units and available at selected retail locations only.

Exclusive First Live Look From IAA: Mercedes SLS AMG

Exclusive First Live Look: Mercedes SLS AMG

We are not reporting very often about cars here and usually stick to the more impressive sportscars out there when we touch the subject. Therefore we could of course not let the opportunity pass when Mercedes asked if we wanted to be the only ones to be let in first into their IAA booth tonight to check out live their new SLS AMG.

The car comes with 571 HP from a 6.3 liter engine and is built entirely from aluminum. The impressive wing doors return from the 300 SL to the SLS AMG. All the specs are of course very impressive. The interior is also beautiful, we especially liked the overall subtle and clean look of all the electronics. One did not feel overloaded with buttons. The car will be officially released in Spring 2010. The car shows its roots from the past, but has for sure been well transformed into a modern car. We already heard rumors that the SLS AMG will actually be coming with an electric engine in 2013, which is something the engineers at Mercedes already took into consideration from the very start. We cannot wait.

For now, look at the new super sportscar from Mercedes, the SLS AMG, in detail after the jump.
