Today we come across a great new glass smart phone and tablet concept by Andrew Solesbury. If the future looks like this, we are definitely already excited.
“The Glass Smart Phone/Tablet is a concept for the future smart phone; edge to edge, and totally transparent.
It has front and rear facing 3D cameras for tracking motion of both the scenery and the user. Together they can create fully tracked augmented reality, and couple with a 3D screen that needs no glasses, everything will look as if it is actually there.
The screen is also totally transparent. All the electronics are held in the tiny multifunctional on/off button, thanks to advances in microscopic electronic components.”
Take a detailed look at the devices after the jump.

Here comes a rather unexpected move by Swedish furniture brand/discounter IKEA – they are moving into electronic. Of course IKEA found the perfect way in for themselves. Taking the mess of home entertainment systems as the starting point, the brand figured out that in order to get rid of it, they would have to combine the furniture and the electronics – that is exactly what they ended up doing.
Come Fall 2012, The Verge reports that IKEA will be introducing their first home entertainment system products – UPPLEVA.
“The range includes three designs, all of which incorporate an LED TV, 2.1 sound system with wireless subwoofers, Wi-Fi for smart TV features, and DVD / Blu-Ray players. The company is planning to launch in Sweden, France, Italy, Poland, Spain, Denmark, Norway, and Portugal in the fall, with a worldwide rollout in spring 2013. The furniture is intended to hide away cables, and will come in a number of different color options.
A few specs on the system have been announced — the LED panels are full HD (suggesting 1080p) which Ikea says have a 400Hz refresh rate and come in four sizes, with four HDMI inputs, two USB ports, and support for DivX HD files. There’s also extra storage, which means that your Xbox 360 and PS3 won’t need to be left out.
The range, dubbed “Uppleva” (meaning experience) is designed to make your home entertainment simpler to use, with one remote to command the whole system. It’s built by Chinese manufacturer TCL, a company better known in the US under the RCA brand, or as Alcatel in Europe. The base model is set to cost SEK 6,500 (about $995) with a 5-year guarantee, though it’s not clear what’s included at this price point, or how much the full version will cost.”
As long as they keep the build-up instructions for these things simple, we do not see how this cannot become a success!

The rumors just do not stop. Not only did the rumors come up again, they even mention that Apple is planning on bringing 6 million units to market in the third quarter of 2012.
“The NetEase report is based on “Taiwan media reports” and is said to be based on orders that Apple is placing to factories in the region, notably Honhai Precision (Foxconn) and Pegatron.
The report comes after The Korea Times wrote last month that Samsung was supplying Apple with “new PLS-based LCD technology for smaller iPads.” An unnamed Samsung official also told the publication that Apple was “planning to release a smaller iPad, probably with a 7.86-inch screen,” later this year. The current iPad has a 9.7-inch screen.” (Via Mashable)
Of course this is not the first time that we have heard such rumors and until now they have never been true. We will of course keep you posted.

MarketPlace Asia takes us inside Foxconn, one of the largest Chinese tech producers. Foxcoon also produces the Apple iPads and iPhones. Today we get a look inside their factories and the iPad production line. It is very interesting hearing the good and bad about these massive production facilities in China – as usual one cannot look at it only from one side.
Enjoy!
