This past month at International Snow Sports Tradeshows, Pirelli Pzero and Burton gave the snowboard industry a sneak peek of their new collaboration for the Winter 2012-2013 season. The focal piece in the collaboration is the 2013 Burton Ion snowboard boot featuring a Pirelli outsole, which will be available worldwide next fall. In addition to the boot, Pirelli worked with Burton on an exclusive snowboard and binding, which will only be available next fall at the Pirelli Corso Venezia store in Milan, Italy.

The star of this joint effort is the 2013 Burton Ion boot. One of Burton’s most legendary boot models, the Ion only gets better in 2013 with the addition of an exclusive new outsole created in collaboration with Pirelli. Taking advantage of the company’s experience in tyre manufacturing, Pirelli has created an exclusive rubber compound for Burton built specifically around the demands of riding that includes a snow tyre-inspired tread designed for superior traction. The top-of-the-line Ion boot also features Burton’s ‘Total Comfort’ technology, so the boot is designed to be super comfortable and high-performing from day one out of the box.

In addition, Pirelli and Burton have created a very limited edition snowboard and binding that will only be sold in the Pirelli Corso Venezia in Milan beginning in the fall of 2012. Both the snowboard and binding feature Pirelli’s distinctive gold and black accents, which were inspired by the daredevil and glamorous world of 1970s motorsports.

686 and Scion are pleased to introduce the world’s first and only car solely dedicated to snowboarding, “Numeric”. Built for snowboarders by snowboarders, the car is the caveat in the 20th anniversary celebration for 686.

686 teamed up with Scion Racing and Spin Imaging to develop the one-of-a-kind custom winter masterpiece. The Numeric is based off of Scion’s xB model. Never before has a car been re-created, re-developed and re-invigorated in such a unique manner. Each aspect of the build was directly inspired from a product and brand that’s progressively pushed snowboarding to new levels.

Each involved brand brought a unique twist to Numeric’s look. The snow specific tires reflect NB686 snowboarding boots and are branded as New Balance tires. The top of the car is designed like a Bern protective carbon fiber helmet, complete with their patented brim technology. The windshield is designed from Dragon’s APX frameless goggle and offers full peripheral view inside the car. The Sparco modified seats are inspired from actual Union team snowboard bindings and are constructed in a high-back cup shaped form. The sound system is engineered and designed by the Skullcandy team, which used their premiere Aviator headphones as inspiration. GoPro came in with their POV expertise in visual racing mirrors and interior mapping. Vestal watches and their ZR-3 Chronograph inspired the custom built time gauges. The devil is in the details and Freewaters sandals clearly did this in the first ever heated floor mats. BOA Technology added their “dialed” in fit to the cars heating and cooling system. Recco Avalanche Rescue systems supplied their sophisticated radar technology on the road and mountain terrain. Blind skateboards legendary artist, Marc Mckee provided his custom touch to the interior panels. To finalize the winter shred story, 686’s technical textile background pushed manufacturing boundaries by successfully wrapping the world’s first and only fully functional waterproof and breathable snowboarding outerwear vehicle, complete with stitched panels, laser welded seams, waterproof zipper and mesh venting.

And the list just goes on. The amount of details that went into the car are simply incredible. The action sports industry will get its first look at the vehicle in the 686 booth at SIA in Denver from January 26-29, 2012.

Burton has produced a very nice Japan only AK457 Collection for Fall/Winter 2011-2012. Next to down liners and vests, the stand out pieces in the collection are of course the Gore-Tex jackets and the backpacks, all stuffed with technical features. We really like the bright yellow that has been heavily used through out the entire collection and the purple/yellow combination. The line is now available in stores in Japan.

Last month we previewed the Burton x Star Wars Snowboard Collection, featuring some of your favorite characters from the iconic film series. Today we get a further look at the line and come across the R2-D2 helmet. Instant classic and certainly a nice accessory to have on the slope to make some heads turn.

RockOn Snowboarding presents their latest snowboard film, entitled ‘Propaganda’. The full movie released this last week. Filmed by Jakob Preischl and Lukas Tielke, directed by Lukas Tielke and Philipp Ramhofer, you get a full 17 minutes of snowboard action, getting you in the right mood for the winter that is just around the corner.

With a flash snowstorm hitting NYC over the weekend, and true snowboard season about a month away, we thought it fair time to share some of our hard goods picks for the season. As with each of our buyers guides, all the items we showcase are available for purchase right now, and we’ll be providing links to where you can order yours.

We have seen so many collaborate with Star Wars and sometimes it certainly feels like an overload. After adidas, Bape, Moleskine, Medicom and many others, Burton is now also joining the party. One thing is for sure, we feel more comfortable having a Stormtrooper plastered all over our snowboard, than a t-shirt or a sneaker.

They present their Chopper snowboard in a series of iconic Star Wars designs. The board comes in all sizes, and there are overall 8 Star Wars artworks to choose from, featuring the most iconic characters of the movie series. A release date has not been announced yet, but we will keep you posted.

For the second time Carhartt and Burton get together and present their latest collaborative outerwear for Fall/Winter 2011-2012. Once again the technical performance of Burton is merged with utility-driven workwear looks from Carhartt. This season they present a jacket and matching pants, coming in the signature Carhartt duck canvas color, yet featuring a double layer Gore-Tex Performance Oxford shell. The jacket is modeled after the the Carhartt ‘Traditional’ jacket and the pants after the ‘Single Knee’ pants.

Available in either brown or black, the jackets and pants are available from today at Carhartt stores and select retailers.
