Rad Collector puts us on to Burton’s latest Vapor featuring a graphic derived from a collaborative Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat piece. “The board itself is once again NASA-grade tech, dipped in $1200 worth of Vaporskin Lite, and the shred stick that is going to win Kevin Pearce a gold medal at the Olympics in Vancouver.” This collector’s item is now available at Burton flagship stores in LA, NY, Chicago, and Burlington.

Graphic designer Art Chantry, best known for his work with bands such as Nirvana and Hole, teamed up with Ride on a limited release DH2 board. Graphics aside, this board is the business. StepChild Snowboards gets their own colorway of Thirtytwo’s classic Lashed boot in celebration of the new 32/SC video entitled “This Video Sucks”. Nike Snowboarding presents as part of their November 2009 release this new “Tiger Rabbit” Zoom Force 1 boot. It comes in a strong red colorway with a tiger pattern all over the upper. Other details include golden eyelets, black leather toe cap and accents, as well as the “Tiger Rabbit” emblem on the ankle strap.

Each season Monument Snowboard’s Creative Director, Christopher Glancy curates an ever-growing pedigree of artists to create site-specific art and deliver the highest quality product on the market. This season they worked with SSUR, Rammellzee, Bjorn Copeland, Richard Colman, and Kelsey Brookes. Each artist created a snowboard for the 2009-2010 season, with the exception of SSUR, who actually created 3 snowboards. The range is very impressive and definitely worth considering this season, if you need a new board.

We get a look at the second season of the rather new Nike Snowboarding Fall/Winter 2009 brand. Next to their Zoom Force 1 boots, they introduce the new Kaiju boot. The colorways are a little more attention seeking than last season, but they also offer some solid black and white colorways. Next to the boots they also offer some great new jackets, using Gore-Tex and other technical materials, as well as Recco technology.

Earlier this year we gave you a look into a new brand called ISAORA, who are producing hi-end, snowboard inspired apparel. The debut collection presented a very impressive range, blending technical materials with stylish cuts and attractive color options. For spring we see a slightly more adventurous approach with red and plaid palettes in the line, though the patterns and colors are still much more subdued than what we’re used to seeing from the usual suspects in snowboarding. In other words, we like this.

Japanese outerwear brand Afdicegear presents their new Fall/Winter 2009-2010 Collection. When it comes to snowboard wear choice becomes pretty limited, with a few big players taking up the market. Afdicegear has been doing their thing for a minute already and has come known for producing some of the best outerwear in the market. The new collection is no different and presents some well constructed technical jackets and shell jackets, using Gore-Tex fabrics and adding lots of little details and features. We also like the colors in the collection, which are strong compared to the pretty subtle branding.

Rad Collector reports on a new addition to Burton’s Private Stock project, that kicked off last season with Ron English. “Burton has linked up with elusive cult hero R. Crumb for the new Fritz the Cat Twin V Rocker board. Definitely a collector’s piece, the board retails for a mellow $399 so don’t expect it to last long at retail. Speaking of that, you may have to hunt a bit, only 100 retailers along with the flagship stores in NY, LA and the Chi will have these.”

After numerous teasers and early leaks, we can finally show you the full collaboration collection of New Balance and snowboard brand 686. The two brands worked on sneakers, boots, outerwear, t-shirts and New Era caps. All pieces feature both brand’s logos. They worked on the New Balance 580 sneaker, which comes in two colorways. They also present the Times NB 580 snowboard boot. Overall 686 once again presents a very comprehensive and coherent offering, which is at the same time something completel new for both brands.

We feature on a regular the Burton Idiom Collection here, technically more interesting though is the AK Collection by Burton. The line has fully embraced the technical advances of Gore-Tex and uses it these days on practically ever single outerwear piece. For Fall/Winter 2009-2010 they present a very solid line-up of jackets, matching pants and more. Along with Gore-Tex they also present a new generation of riri waterproof zippers this season, the best there is in the market. Our friends at Rad Collector had a peek at 686’s collaborative effort with KR3W. “Taking KR3W style and tweaking it for on mountain performance, the collection features two hoodie shells, an M-65 coat, snowboard pants, and a denim “K-Slim” pant that features a new proprietary stretch cotton-poly denim that looks and feels like denim but will keep you warm and dry all day.” Hitting top 686 retailers this month.

The full 2010 lineup from Burton’s design-oriented sub label iDiom hit the web today. Usual suspects such as the 3L jacket, Continuum down jacket, and Insulator jacket return with updated construction and new colorways. Also seen this is season are a 5L jacket, a hooded soft shell and several snow pant styles. Each piece comes in several colors with grey, purple, black and pink being the dominant palette. Burton Snowboards and Paul Smith Jeans have once again joined creative forces for their third limited-edition collection. Following on the worldwide success of their two previous collaborations, the 2009 collection will be sold in Paul Smith shops throughout the UK and at Burton Flagship Stores worldwide beginning in September 2009.

The latest collaboration expands beyond exclusive snowboarding outerwear pieces to include apparel pieces such as jeans, t-shirts, snowboarding first layer pieces, sweatshirts and jackets. The pieces were designed to combine Burton’s innovative fabric technology with Paul Smith’s inventive designs. The focal point of the 2009 Fall/Winter collection is a bondage-inspired snowboarding jacket that combines fashion and function with welded pockets, taped seams, a pass pocket, gauntlet cuffs and an adjustable hood. The jacket is available in two colorways; black shiny rubber and jacquard leopard print.

Driven Studio conceptualized, brokered, and executed the Gordini Artist Series Project. GASP features three limited-edition goggles designed by creative luminaries Dave Kinsey, and Mikey Welsh. Dave Kinsey created two pair of goggles and the third one was designed by artist Mikey Welsh. The goggles will be released as part of the Gordini Fall/Winter 2009/10 Collection later this year.
