London’s Dover Street Market is back for Autumn/Winter 2011 and once again changed its look. As you should all know by now, the store by Comme des Garcons adds new spaces every season, dedicated to brands, special themes or collaborations.

For Fall/Winter 2011 you will be seeing a dedicated Ganryu space, Adam Kimmel x carhartt space, Rick Owens space, a new window decoration by artist Matt Clark, a new Celine space designed by Phoebe Philo, a Pringle of Scotland space, Albert Elbaz stays inside DSM and designed a new Lanvin space, and Undercover has moved into a new space in the basement.

Stone Island Flagship Store Paris

Stone Island Flagship Store Paris

Today we take a closer look at the newly opened Stone Island Flagship Store in Paris. An installation dedicated to the moon and the fascination of images inspired by space expeditions was the setting of the opening cocktail of the first Parisian address of the Italian brand. The references to space symbolize a commitment to research that’s always been in the DNA of Stone Island.

The 80 square-meter store located in the heart of the Parisian capital was subject to an intense renovation plan. While the merchandising is entirely displayed on the ground floor, the double-leveled glass façade is articulated on two floors and offers a strong exterior visual impact.

The store opened with the FW 2011/2012 collections of Stone Island and Stone Island Shadow.

HUF Los Angeles Closes

HUF LA Closes HUF Los Angeles Closes
After shuttering their San Francisco location in March, HUF has closed down their retail store in Los Angeles as well. The brand will continue on, sans retail shops.

To whom it may concern:

We unexpectedly lost our lease recently at our HUF LA shop on Fairfax, and unfortunately closed its doors this past Sunday. We are all bummed about it, and will miss being on the block and all the good times we had at that shop… But change happens and we will keep cruising on and making great stuff. This upcoming year will mark HUF’s 10-year anniversary as a brand, which we will celebrate with the release of exclusive collaboration projects throughout the year. You can still pick up HUF products at your local HUF dealers, and can always find us right here on our website. We hope to be able to reopen HUF retail shops again in the future, but at this time are not sure when or where… We will keep you posted. As for now, our time and efforts will continue to be entirely devoted to perfecting the brand and its product. We could never have foreseen how rapidly the brand would grow since its beginning, and would like to sincerely thank all of you who have walked through our doors in any of our shops over the last decade. Thanks for the support, and stay tuned!

Sincerely,

Keith Hufnagel

Nike 1948 London Store Re-Opening

Nike 1948 London Store Re-Opening-01

In the summer of 2008 Nike launched ‘1948’ in an abandoned East London railway arch. Part retail space, part creative playground, 1948 celebrated freedom and self-expression through sport and culture. Today, the space has undergone an extensive re-design in preparation for an action packed 2011.

In addition to the best Nike footwear and apparel available, the re-imagined 1948 includes a new raised mezzanine area that serves as a creative library/workspace, open to all. Furthermore, 1948 will host an ongoing calendar of sports-inspired creative programming, starting with a tennis themed takeover.

“The space opens with installations in various forms from artists such as Best Ever, whose photo-real paintings go beyond pure form to convey the emotion and physicality in the athletes that inspired them. These large-scale abstract murals provide the perfect background to an intimate film piece created by Tyrone Lebon; a personal portrait of the nation’s capital at a time of year when it captures the imagination of tennis fans all over the world; showing London’s characters, buildings, energy and history in a fresh light.”

There’s even a new 1948 iPad app, launching globally through iTunes on Monday June 27, with exclusive, interactive content from some of London’s sharpest writers, photographers and illustrators.
