Aether have teamed up with Paris-based designer Thierry Gaugain to create the ultimate shop on wheels. After finding the ultimate 34′ PanAmerican Airstream, Aether have completely gutted the interior and decked it from the floor up. This impressive mobile shop has a flooring that’s 11” reclaimed oak floor from Carlisle Wide Plank Floor. The sofa and table are custom made by Environment Furniture, who uses sustainable harvested wood and the reuse of otherwise discarded materials. Most props and other furniture were purchased at the Paris flea market.

Recently Japanese brand visvim re-opened its Sendai F.I.L. flagship store and today we can give you a look at the latest interior by Hiroki Nakamura. As usual each piece of clothing and footwear is treated like an object and nicely presented in wooden vitrines or sitting on tables and bases. Compared to previous F.I.L. stores, visvim decided to go with a slightly darker theme in this case, using more dark wood on both furniture, floors and design elements.

The excitement is great for the opening of the first Carhartt Work In Progress store in the US. Today the store on Crosby Street will be officially opening its doors, releasing among other things, some special fragment design collaboration products.
Yesterday we had the chance to check out the new retail space in Soho. Carhartt did a great job with the built-out, presenting a look that is both true to their brand, yet also up to date with today’s world. A mix of vintage signs, beautiful wooden floors and furniture nicely presents the full collection of the Carhartt WIP brand. Make sure to check it out on your next New York trip.

This coming Friday, Japanese fast fashion chain Uniqlo will be opening its largest global flagship store to date on 5th Avenue in New York City. Thanks to Selectism we can give you a detailed look inside the impressive new mega store.
“Designed by Wonderwall (you know the name), the new UNIQLO shop will be the largest single retailer on Fifth Ave. with more than 89,000 square feet of retail space across three floors. Those familiar with the UNIQLO SOHO location and the congestion that fills it during the busy weekend, will want to explore the new Fifth Ave location. The retail space is open and wide for shopping and browsing. More than 200 LCD and LED screens throughout the new store will deliver UNIQLO styled looks and more.
The UNIQLO Fifth Ave. opening has been blitzed hard in the media for months now and Friday will be a exceptional day for the retailer. Those looking for store opening specials will be pleased to hear that their basic v-neck cashmere sweater will sell for $50 (down from the normal $99) and Japanese denim lovers will want to be quick to lock in a pair of slim or straight denim for $9.99. That’s right: $9.99.”
Largest store on 5th Avenue? Denim for 9.99 USD for the opening? I think those are enough reasons to pass by this coming Friday.

Saturday marked the grand opening of the K1X NYC flagship store in SoHo, located in the old Recon location of Lafayette. The highlight of the event was the exhibition of the “Tonz-O-Gunz K.O.N.Y.” art work by Barron Claiborne, which was released as a limited edition t-shirt – exclusively by Barron Claiborne and K1X.
Acclaimed photographer Barron Claiborne made it an unforgettable night for many, by taking portraits of the guests. Of course, an exclusive portrait by the man who took Biggie’s most iconic (and last!) picture is a bragging right in itself. They added an extra cherry on top, as their visitors got to wear Notorious B.I.G.’s original crown, posing as the “King of New York”.
With DJ Getlive on the decks, sneakerheads, taste makers, media and ballplayers celebrated the arrival of K1X in the Big Apple.
