After already having presented the Carhartt Heritage Fall/Winter 2012 Lookbook, we move on today and take a closer look at the mainline of the brand. Carhartt has been celebrating a strong comeback these recent years, due to a general heritage trend, but also strong collaborations, mainly in the Japanese market. After all they produce still today quality goods with decent prices and therefore we are not complaining.

Strong accent colors and patterns that we have seen before in collaborations and the heritage line, now also end up in the mainline. We really like the new outerwear, the patterned shirts, and of course Carhartt classics in new colors and patterns. All in all a well balanced collection, just like we are used to see from Carhartt WIP.

After Poworama, Colorama Graff, Nubuckorama, Discorama and Blockorama, Pierre Hardy presents his latest limited edition sneaker for Summer 2012 – the Dapperama.

As usual the French designer keeps it colorful on these and this time he draws influence from the golf sport and hip hop. Next to suede accents in multiple colors on the white leather upper of the sneaker, the fringes are a nice finishing touch.

As usual, these are limited to 500 pairs worldwide and they will release at Pierre Hardy stores and retailers June 2012.

Sneaker customizer Nash Money created one heck of a hybrid shoe for the Sole DXB Sneaker Summit that just went down in Dubai. The shoe created? A visvim x New Balance 1500 Encap hybrid. There’s some really awesome details here from the “Majiis” fabric skirt, to the beads used on the tassles, but the fusing of the sole unit to the visvim FBT is what really makes our eyes pop out of our head.

In an interesting new collaboration, Converse Japan has teamed up with New Era. Taking the All Star Hi and the New Era 59Fifty has inspiration, the outcoming high top sneaker is as classic and clean as it can get. The sneaker features both the Converse and the New Era logo embroidered on the upper. Look out for a release in Japan in July 2012.

Porsche has began testing of this 918 Spyder prototype as announced by the German automotive company. The car is scheduled to go into production in September of 2013, with purchasers of the vehicle receiving them towards the end of next year.

The super sports car is designed as a plug-in hybrid vehicle combining a high-performance combustion engine with cutting-edge electric motors for extraordinary performance: on the one hand, the dynamics of a racing machine boasting more than 770 hp, on the other hand, fuel consumption in the region of three litres per 100 kilometres.

It’s genuinely cool when someone has a true passion for something be it work or sport, or in Aaron Draplin’s case, seed books. In an interesting new project, iconic Germany brand Villeroy & Boch has teamed up with typographic artist Ebon Heath for the Second Glance Project. Presented last week in Berlin, the special collaboration between the artist and the brand, which was originally founded in 1748, was celebrated with an exhibition at Seven Star Gallery, showcasing the outcoming products.

Among many others, ceramics are still an expertise of Villeroy & Boch, known for their premium bathroom products. As such, the bathroom sink was the object that the artist started working on. Aside from a beautiful resulting product, the artist’s intuitive creativity meets and clashes with the clear structures and predetermined manufacturing steps of a company that is usually confined to a strict production framework and narrowly defined schedules.

The result is an interdisciplinary collaboration with clear mutual benefits: Inspired by Villeroy & Boch’s material and décor expertise, Ebon Heath went on to create several further Second Glance works, a. o. a poem-turned-mobile (Typographic Mobiles) blending Villeroy & Boch’s core competency (ceramics) with Heath’s pronounced penchant for typography. The resulting installation comprises 166 individual ceramic letters – fashioned into the seven lines and title of his Second Glance poem – and was assembled especially for the occasion.

Besides selected LoopArt creations, the event last week also presented the above-mentioned mobiles and bespoke jewelry, both fashioned from ceramic letters, as well as a short film on the design process behind this unusual – and unusually fruitful – collaboration. Watch the movie here below.

A new Nike SB Dunk Low has dropped nicknamed “Crown Royal,” a reference to the whiskey’s purple velvet bag the bottle comes in. If you choose not to acknowledge that, you can say they’re Los Angeles Lakers inspired due to the similarity in colors. After last night’s beating at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder, you might want to stick to the “CR” code name these have earned. Either way, these are now available at Nike SB retailers such as Premier.

Our contemporary notion of art generally endorses an abstract analysis of our daily realities and pillories any vestige of nonreflective and unfiltered criticism (pun intended). Even the more surprising and fantastic, that it is exactly the dull and candid hate the work “DIE GUILLOTINE” by Iman Rezai and Rouven Materne provokes from its online audience, that propelles the piece to what it is: a substantial reflection and justifiable comment on our modern democratic society.

The two UdK Master Students built a giant polychromatic, toy-like yet fully functional guillotine, putting their online audience in the position to decide over a sheep’s life or death. Via online vote the spectator can become a mediate executioner or repriever of the animal. Or stay a detached bystander, of course. You can still vote today here.

Over the past week Kidult and Marc Jacobs have been having somewhat of a feud. Now, in what Kidult is referring to as the “Final Ending,” the French street artist has released the ‘Not Art by Kidult’ T-Shirt. Flipping MJ’s $689 tee on it’s head, this one goes for a mere 6,89 Euros (approx. $8.80 USD) and comes in white or pink. The shirts are available now through Kidult, limited to 50 pieces per color.

A beautiful new colorway of the Nike Zoom Elite+ running shoe will release this month. Coming from the Nike Summer 2012 Collection, the sneaker comes with a summit white/soar blue upper.
