backdoorbook 1 Back Door Book by Off BoweryThose of you that have read our site a little longer, will know the Back Door very well. It was a door in the back of the aNYthing store in NYC. A-Ron used it to document all the people that came through. The pictures then went up on his Glob (blog). Now he released with his new Off Bowery Productions company a book, filled with Back Door pictures. Definitely a nice book to own, bringing back good memories of the past couple of years! Off Bowery Productions @ The Wreck Center

The Wretch NYC
Just recently we showed you the interview by Heron Preston (watch them here and here) with A-Ron (former aNYthing), in which he introduced his new company, Off Bowery Productions, and hints at some upcoming ventures. We came across an interesting article in the New York Times now, giving us some more information on what exactly A-Ron has got waiting for you!
“Residents of a sleepy SoHo block aren’t sure what to make of the Wreck Center, a store/performance space/art installation that has invaded their neighborhood like a post-apocalyptic circus. Decorated with graffiti, gold paint and 5,800 feet of Day-Glo masking tape, the space, designed by Rafael de Cárdenas, pops, to say the least. “Finally one came up to me,” said Aaron Bondaroff (above), the project’s ringleader, “and told me it was about time someone did something cool in the neighborhood again.” Until the end of February, when the building that houses the Wreck Center is torn down, Mr. Bondaroff, the downtown impresario better known as A-Ron, has planned a series of invite-only book signings, launch parties, art and music shows, even a little stand-up comedy; a storefront will sell the wares of all involved. “And as soon as everyone catches on,” he said, “it’ll be over.” That is, until May, when the Playboy channel broadcasts a documentary on the whole affair.”
It certainly sounds like an interesting venture and hopefully we’ll manage to visit the space before it closes again!

A-Ron Is Back – Part 1

This is really great news via Heron Preston. He interviewed A-Ron The Downtown Don and it looks like we will be hearing a lot more from him again in the coming months. 2007 it got a little calm around him and his former brand aNYthing.
According to this latest interview he has got new space in Soho and will be introducing with his new OFF BOWERY productions a range of 15 brands over the next 2 years. That sounds like a lot, so let’s see what will come out of this, but the store front will for sure be exciting. We are happy to have him back!
Part 2 of the interview in the following post!
