Selectism reports about the latest limited-edition from ABSOLUT – a collaboration with one of the UK’s leading graphic artists, Jamie Hewlett of the multi-award winning Gorillaz. ABSOLUT LONDON celebrates the vibrant cultural city, capturing London’s creativity and rich style heritage in a unique bottle design.

Designed by London creative and visionary Jamie Hewlett, the bottle is a unique take on London’s style and fashion pioneers over the past 200 years. Set against a London backdrop, the bottle introduces key characters from the past who have influenced and shaped London’s present fashion scene. The seven characters encapsulate the city’s diverse heritage, spanning the ages from Dickensian and 18th Century Dandy, through to Pinstripe gent, 60’s chick, SKA , Punk and 80’s Casual.

ABSOLUT London will be launching in-store on 1st March in Selfridges and Harvey Nichols and then to general retailers from 1st April.

In their latest collaboration, Absolut Vodka has worked together with fashion designer Gareth Pugh. The Absolut Mode edition bottle was inspired by one of the pieces of the designer’s Spring/Summer 2007 Collection. The bottle was launched this week and is now available from Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.

Absolut Vodka presents their latest limited edition bottle for the Holiday 2010 season – Absolut Glimmer. The name does not sound very appealing to us, but we actually like the bottle. It reminds us of some nice vintage cognac glasses. Look out for it in stores now.

Absolut Vodka has teamed up with artists Steve “EPSO” Powers and Chiho Aoshima for a new promotion called The Art of Sharing. Each artist has contributed two designs to a series of four unique drink pitchers that have been released in various sizes for different markets. Check the Absolut collector’s forum if you’re interested in tracking them all down.

ABSOLUT gets together with Spike Lee to design their latest limited edition vodka bottle – ABSOLUT Brooklyn.

“The bottle features a depiction of a brownstone with the number from Lee’s childhood home in Cobble Hill and bears his name on the bottle. Inside the bottle is a vodka flavored with apple and ginger. It has a retail price of $29.99 . Each of the city editions of Absolut has a charitable initiative attached, as part of this campaign Absolut is donating $50,000 to Habitat for Humanity to help fund an affordable homes project in Bedford-Stuyvesant.”

Look out for these to arrive in stores soon.

Absolut worked with renowned photographer Ellen von Unwerth. She shot a photo spread of Kate Beckinsale and Zooey Deschanel, mirroring the history of cocktail making. For the first time the photo series is entirely available in a limited and signed version of the Absolut Cocktailian book. The book brings together the imagery by Unwerth and the world’s best cocktail recipes.

The book will be released on May 20th. There are only 30 copies of the Ellen von Unwerth version of the book and these will retail for 99 Euros. A very limited set of stores will be reveiving this special version of the book.

The documentary, titled NY-Z, was directed by Danny Clinch and paints a rare portrait of the global hip-hop icon. With unprecedented access to Jay-Z the days and moments leading up to, and after, his legendary September 11th benefit concert at Madison Square Garden, Danny Clinch gives us an intimate glimpse into Jay-Z: his childhood, his motivation as an artist, his passion for music, and his muse, New York.
