Coming from similar backgrounds in the industry, Wemoto worked with Akomplice on a set of collaborative t-shirts. Akomplice was established in 2004, from the middle of nowhere in Colorado, while Wemoto started in 2003 in the fashion-deficient city of Wiesbaden, Germany. Despite their locations, each brand has been able to build and grow over the years through friendship and hard work. Taking their as inspiration for the project, each respective tee will be distributed by the other brand in their home territories of North America and Europe.

The term “Survival of the Fittest” dates back to Charles Darwin’s theory of Natural Selection, and in today’s tough economic climate, who can deny that survival is the name of the game? Together, Akomplice and respected Chicago-based retailer Leaders 1354 have a combined 12 years in the industry, allowing them to build an understanding about what it takes to survive in this game. With that in mind, Akomplice have teamed up with Leaders 1354 to save the day by producing a stunning “Survival of the Fittest Pack” which includes an Akomplice x Leaders Swiss Army knife, an Akomplice x Leaders T-shirt, and a certificate of authenticity. The T-shirt features a Swiss Army knife-inspired design which highlights 10 qualities necessary for surviving life. And if you’ve watched MacGyver, you already know how crucial a pocket knife is in tough times. This one just happens to look really nice. Everything comes nicely packaged in a rope-bound black box. Limited to just 30 packs worldwide, this very special release will drop on May 23rd, at 12 noon, and is available exclusively at the Leaders Boutique in Chicago (1400 Milwaukee Ave). Later the same evening Leaders will also be hosting the official Akomplice Season 10 launch party too.

Graphic tees inspired by popular culture, and in particular rap music, are the stock and trade of Akomplice’s output. For Autumn 2008 they exceed their previous output in this regard. The tees are smarter and more thoughtfully composed. They’ve also forged ahead with a more varied line-up, that includes a the cut and sew fade t-shirt and an Ostrich leather fitted. The Akomplice version of the windrunner jacket also sees the light of day.
Perhaps their biggest accomplishment, Akomplice has worked with Warner Brothers on a shirt promoting the 11th Hour. A DVD of the DiCaprio narrated and produced film features on the hang tag of each shirt. Interesting marketing all round.

Once Upon A Time and Akomplice got together on the already iconic “We Run” t-shirt by OUAT. Akomplice being based out of Colorado chose to go with WE RUN CO for this collaboration. They did not only take the design, they added a backprint and some nice crackle foil prints as well. The print on the back has the Once Upon A Time logo as well as the Akomplice logo and reads ” A Collaboration, This Ish Is Money.” Also, the crackle and runners are done up in foil.
