As part of their Apex Initiative, Alpinestars will present a series of product collaborations with like minded individuals and brands. First up is a collaboration with Marc Arcenal and his Fatlace collective. As part of the collaboraiton they present a high top sneaker with a large embossed Fatlace logo, as well as a t-shirt and a one-off Fatlace racing suit.

The Alpinestars APEX INITIATIVE will exist as a transition and weight transfer from Alpinestars’ commitment to and passion for motorsports, into a creative venture, combining fashion, technology, art and culture. APEX INITIATIVE will serve as a collaboration of creativity, representing the meeting point of motorsports, culture and lifestyle.”

Alpinestars challenges assumptions of how waterproof riding apparel should be built with this Gore-Tex leather jacket. Teched out with abrasion resistant Gore Pro Shell leather, perforated Gore panels, 3L Gore stretch materials, fully taped seams, and drainage panels this jacket is made for pure performance. The 365 also features a zip out thermal vest, internal pockets, and a waist connection zipper to hook up with the matching leather pants. Reflective stripes, logo and Bioarmor are also integrated into the style for added safety. Dropping this September, for a suggested retail of $1300 USD.

Curated by Nip Tuck’s John Hensley and Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn, Celeritas (Latin for speed) is a show that communicates their passion for motorcycle culture as well as fine art and street art. Raising money and awareness for the Riders for Health organization, over seventeen artists contributed beautiful works of art, using motorcycle helmets, Alpinestars’ suits and a Suzuki Hayabusa as canvases.

In addition to participating as a sponsor, Alpinestars worked in conjunction with artist Dr. Romanelli. Using an Alpinestars racing suit, gloves and boots as a template and Mad Max as inspiration, Dr. Romanelli has deconstructed and reinterpreted the motorcycle suit.

Other legendary artists participating in the show include Barry McGee, Joe Hahn, Mike Shinoda, Mark Dean Veca, Audrey Kawasaki, Jim Lee, James Jean, Stash, Futura, Jesse James, Jeff McMillan, Alex Pardee, Troy Lee, Usugrow, Estevan Oriol and Nathan Cabrera. The show takes places at SURU and runs until August 13th.

When thinking about the latest hot sneaker, Alpinestars certainly came not to mind. But we have to hand it to them with their new Shibuya model, which is surprisingly strong. Then again it makes sense. The brand is known for their high quality motorcycle leather gear and that knowledge has now been applied to their Shibuya mid top sneaker, which features premium waterproof leathers, canvas and mesh in a variety of colorways. The design is very clean, easy to match and wear and branding is very subtle. Really not too bad.
