New York street artist Neckface worked closely with Altamont on a signature collection of apparel for spring. While several garments (such as the above bandana/balaclava) feature Nasty Neck’s signature artwork, a number of pieces are more toned down with a focus on hidden pockets and other details conducive to Neckface’s lifestyle.

Altamont partners with Ralph Steadman on a special T-shirt series printed with illustrations from Hunter S. Thompson’s long-lost novel, The Curse of Lono.

In his early life, the United Kingdom’s Ralph Steadman was held hostage by an overgrown insect known as the Great Bug of Creativity. Instead of trying to escape back into the creature comforts of the moribund workaday world, young Ralph eventually saw the light and wisely chose to become an artist instead.

Soon after, his star really began to rise. Ralph became well-known for his pictorial contributions to American author Hunter S. Thompson’s writings. Together, they created gonzo journalism–an unpolished, exaggerated, profane form of literature that blends fact and fiction, and in which the reporter becomes a main character.

In the 1970s and ’80s, Ralph’s distorted, chaotic drawings perfectly mirrored Hunter’s corrosive, stream-of-consciousness words in such gonzo classics as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in 1971 and the lesser-known The Curse of Lono in 1983. In print for only a short while, the latter was re-issued in 2005, due to Ralph’s popularity, complete with a large number of his drawings and paintings.

Emerica and Altamont today open a concept store in the basement of iconic London based skate shop Slam City Skates. From the press release: “You can now check out the largest selection of Emerica and Altamont products available under one roof in Europe. And if you’re tired from strolling around in London for a day, you can always have a rest on the Victorian chaise lounge in the basement. Just sit back, watch and get inspired by the Emerica and Altamont team riders that you see skateboarding on the big plasma screen.” To coincide with the grand opening (Saturday, March 20th) there will be promos and giveaways throughout the day.

Once again Altamont has managed to link up with an iconic designer. For Spring 2010 they worked with Andrew Lee, known for his invisible:man brand and the Commissary Stores in San Diego and Costa Mesa. Lee has previously lent his collaboration design skills to brands like Stussy, Neighborhood, Real Mad Hectic, T-19, Kinetics and Mad Foot to name a few.

As part of his Altamont collaboration collection he presents a hooded shirt, a short sleeve shirt, as well as two t-shirts and two caps.

Altamont celebrates the unlikely story of groundbreaking Toronto hardcore band Fucked Up with a small t-shirt capsule for Fall 2010. First up is the iconic-in-certain-circles Fucked Up logo over Altamont’s popular custom tie-dye body. The second graphic features a punk rock dude stomping out a raver chick as illustrated by cartoonist Brian Walsby. Check it after the click.

Today at Agenda, Altamont unveiled a series of t-shirts by legendary S.F. artist Pushead. Overall the artist contributed 3 graphics: two blending his signature gory imagery with the Altamont aestheic, and a third offering his own interpretation of the Altamont logo. Look for these to hit retail come Fall 2010.

Altamont contributor Kenny Hoyle calls Carlsbad, California home, where “constant sunshine and a solid family upbringing nurtured this natural skateboarding wizard with a friendly demeanor.” This Spring 2010 sees a collaborative Altamont and DVS Munition sneaker in his honor. A top art critic from The Los Angeles Times called Eriberto Oriol “a people’s aesthete for his discerning eye.” Eriberto’s photos have a strong sense of perspective and composition. This formal sensibility merged with a gift for capturing the raw essence and realities of L.A. Latino street life was instilled in Eriberto’s son, Estevan Oriol, at an early age. Estevan is now a renowned photographer and director in his own right. But, it was Eriberto who planted the seed, literally!

He’s been published globally, including Juxtapoz and Warp Japan, along with the aforementioned newspaper and The San Francisco Chronicle, just to name a few. He continues to live and work in his hometown L.A. With the Eriberto Oriol for Altamont Collection, Eriberto chose four iconic images from his catalog that represent his cultural roots and environment and applied them to t-shirts with symbolic captions. Longtime friend and collaborator Mr. Cartoon was brought in to create the Eriberto signature icon.

The next collaborator of Altamont for Holiday 2009 is 10.Deep founder and creative director Scott Sasso. The outcome is a small capsule collection, consisting of a hoodie, shirt, t-shirts, cap and a scarf. The collection fuses the Altamont style with details that we learned to appreciate in the 10.Deep collection.

Taking cues from the namesake Altamont tragedy of 1969, Scott invokes the event and the era through motifs like a raceway checkerboard pattern, a bloody arm, psychedelic imagery and a reference to the infamous event security, or lack thereof. All these elements are incorporated with Scott’s signature 10.Deep attention to detailing and unique patterns to create a completely modern brand mash-up.

Bill Owens’ first book, Suburbia, published in 1973, was an instant success and later gained recognition as one the most influential photography books of the twentieth century. Bill’s peculiar knack for finding the unexpected strangeness, beauty and humor within the mundane would become a huge influence on following generations of artists. Evidenced of Bill’s inspiration can be found in the work of filmmakers such as Paul Thomas Anderson, Sofia Coppola and Wes Anderson.

Despite earning a Guggenheim fellowship and two NEA Grants, photography wasn’t paying the bills, so Bill followed his other passions, ultimately becoming a pioneer in the American home brewing movement. These days, Bill is making digital movies and has a few more books up his sleeve. He is a father, a brewer, a gardener, and founder of the American Brewing Institute. For 17 years he published American Brewer Magazine.

In 1969, while working as a photojournalist for a local newspaper, Bill was on hand to document the concert at Altamont Speedway that would come to symbolize a turning point in youth culture. The Bill Owens for Altamont collection is comprised of some of those photos and consists of t-shirts, hoodies and a cap.

In an interesting collaboration Altamont has hooked up with A-Ron’s Off Bowery brand to create a small capsule collection of product. The collection consists of t-shirts, sweaters, hoodies, denim, as well as a couple of accessories, including a New Era cap. Both solid and rather simple styles and more attention seeking graphics are being used in the collection, expressing and communicating the Off Bowery message.

Boogie started photographing rebellion and unrest in his hometown of Belgrade, Serbia in the early 1990s. In an unlikely twist of fate, he won a lottery visa to the United States. With just a camera and no money in his pocket, Boogie quickly found his new home in the ghettos of New York City. The images depicted in the Boogie for Altamont collection are photos he took for his first book, It’s All Good, which documents the lives of gang members and drug addicts around his home in Brooklyn / Bed-Stuy.

The Boogie For Altamont Collection consists of t-shirts, hoodies and a canvas tote bag. Check it out in detail after the jump.

The artists featured in this exclusive series for Altamont were chosen by No Age and given a loose theme based around the progressive power of healing. Remember kids, as Nietzsche famously said “That which doesn’t kill you, only makes you radder.”

Artists participating in this series include Matthew Thurber, Sam McPheeters and Hisham Baroocha. Each one of the artists created a t-shirt for the series and the outcome is rather impressive.
