Some interesting news on Andy Howell’s latest project landed in our inbox today – ArtsProjekt has launched, a new online creative community/store/a lot more.
" ARTSPROJEKT, www.artsprojekt.com, an interactive and culturally relevant online community for the arts, pop culture and action sports announced its launch today. ARTSPROJEKT will feature original art, illustrations, and designs by artists, celebrities, action sports stars and micro brands, as well as offer artist profiles, portfolios, online product galleries, collaborations, artist interviews, and more.  ARTSPROJEKT will also represent and manage artists, as well as host exhibitions curated by some of the best artists in the world, create limited and open edition reproductions of its artists’ works for sale worldwide, and establish working and collaborative relationships with major media brands. The intersection and merger of diverse artistic and sub-group aesthetics and influences plays a major roll in the contemporary iteration of what we call street culture. Beyond the music, graphic, and even transportation choices, there is also a balance between the authentic and the watered down. This comes, primarily, from tensions related to work with corporate entities.
Andy Howell, as an artist and a skateboarder (among many other things), has traversed many of the rocky trails that define the mingling of the corporate world and the street arts. Working with companies as diverse as Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, DC Shoes and Rossignol (presented to you in the previous post), along with his own New Deal and Element, Howell has created and collaborated on some highly visible art works.
We had an in-depth conversation with the artist about his work, his inspiration and views in general.

We present you an interesting project that Rossignol will be launching towards the end of the month.
Using skate legends turned graphic artists, Rossignol has created  the Seven Artistic Sins (SAS) collection canvassed with artistic interpretations of the seven deadly sins as imagined by iconic boardsports legends Andy Howell, Steve Caballero, Caia Koopman, Mr. Jago, Andrew Pommier, Will Barras and Squindo, whose collective (Spacejunk) work has covered  skateboards, snowboards, surf boards and album covers for much of the last decade. The collection comes in a limited edition and will have a 7 year lifespan, with exclusive early availability at renowned board sports retailer Evo.

After their successful T-shirt project “We Love Limited Edition” one year ago, Carhartt & Fantomass are proud to present five new series of zipped hoodies.

“We Love Limited Edition 2” has been designed by 5 renowned artists: Akroe, Andy Howell, Jonone, Superdeux and Will Barras. This time the collection is all black and each piece comes in an exclusively designed “We Love Limited Edition 2” box that also can be used as a canvas. Each of the five designs is numbered and limited to 200 samples, and a certificate of ownership verifies each piece.

Recently we announced the upcoming show of artist Andy Howell at the XLarge Upstairs Gallery. Along with also showed the t-shirt and playing cards (see again here), that  will be  available at the opening, December 6th. Now XLarge also presents a pillow, which comes with the same playing card graphic. It will also be released at the opening!

Next week, 6th of December, the Upstairs Gallery of the XLarge LA store will host the opening of the Andy Howell exhibition. Of course they have some collaborative goodies ready for the exhibition. There will be a XLarge x Andy Howell t-shirt and also playing cards.
