Last night marked the opening of renowned artist/photographer Ari Marcopoulos’ exhibition at Project Space. “As the fourth artist Project Space installment, this exhibition features images from the book Now Is Forever and will also serve as the premiere of “Moroso Crew,” a video Marcopoulos shot in 1992. The video is a 60-minute cinema vérité documentary on illegal drag racing in Brooklyn and the Bronx. The exhibition also celebrates the Incase x Ari Marcopoulos Camera Bag that will be available September 23rd at goincase.com and better boutiques.

OHWOW announces the release of STOOPZ by Ari Marcopoulos.

STOOPZ chronicles New York’s fledgling skateboard scene from the early 90s. These photographs document the charismatic individuals composing this specific group of skaters and the urban locations they frequented. The work poignantly captures the mood of the time, and its pioneers, just as this now legendary skate movement began to take form.

An official book release and signing will take place on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from 6-8pm at the OHWOW Book Club (227 Waverly Place, NYC). Free slice of pizza and beer with every book purchase.

The Adam and Eve Projects is a web based broadcast dedicated to “bringing together the most exciting and important shapers and definers of our cultural landscape in one location.” The latest initiative from Adam and Eve Projects is a collaborative surfboard between photographer/artist Ari Marcopoulos and Australian surf company Zed Surf. The “Ari Biscuit” was produced in a run of 10 numbered pieces and is now available at Adam and Eve’s online store.

Photographer and filmmaker Ari Marcopoulos worked with Yves Saint Laurent to create a short film entitled “No Way Back”. The documentary-style film focuses on tattoo artist Mark Mahoney and the Shamrock Social Club. Enjoy!

Rad Collector pulls in news of a collaborative photo project between Ari Marcopoulos and Mark Gonzales at Franklin Parrasch Gallery.

The exhibition includes Marcopolous’s adventurous photographs of model Diana Dondoe and Mark Gonzales. Post-production Gonzales has drawn and etched upon the surfaces of these photographs. The twelfth issue of HoBO magazine will feature these collaborative photographs and an interview with Gonzales by Glenn O’Brien. The proceeds of works sold from this exhibition will be given to a cancer research foundation.

Nieves has published a new zine by photographer Ari Marcopoulos. The 16 page zine comes in an edition of 100 and will be released at the Nieves exhibitions in Tokyo this month.

Tommy Hilfiger partners with the Whitney Museum of American Art as the fashion sponsor for the 2010 Whitney Biennial. In honor of the sponsorship, the label will debut a limited-edition tote featuring imagery by Biennial artist Ari Marcopoulos. The tote will be available at the Whitney and Tommy Hilfiger Fifth Avenue beginning February 24, 2010 for $98 retail, with 50% of proceeds benefiting the Whitney Museum.

Tommy Hilfiger will also underwrite admission to the Whitney Biennial on Saturday, February 27, 2010 (open to the public on February 25th through May 30th) for the first 1000 visitors, details for which will be available on tommy.com.
