Complex has compiled a great list of historical art references that have appeared in The Simpsons over the years. You would be surprised how many great painters and artists have appeared in one way or another in the show.
Included are Pablo Picasso, Jaques Louis David, Edvard Munch, Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Leonardo DaVinci, Michelangelo, Edward Hopper and the list just goes on.

Thierry Guetta, aka Mr. Brainwash, shares the story of his journey to take over an abandoned industrial space in the center of Los Angeles for a massive art show. But before unveiling his own work, he invites the entire street art community to decorate the inside.

We already teased you with several videos and images for the exhibition by Huf, DLX and Japanese artist Haroshi. HUF has partnered with Japanese artist Haroshi and Bay Area-based skateboard distributor DLX Distribution on a collaboration that incorporates the clean design aesthetic of HUF, the raw, street-skating principles of DLX, and a combination of both elements represented through the artwork of Haroshi.
The sculptures, that the artist crafts from recycled skateboards are just incredible. For this exhibition he produced a skateboard sculpture, a dog, a guitar, a fire hydrant, the hand and a Spitfure Classic.

As some of you may already know, all Gagosian Galleries around the globe will launch the Damien Hirst ‘The Complete Spot Paintins 1986-2011′ exhibition on January 12th, 2012. All 11 locations of the prominent gallery around the globe, will be host to the work of the English superstar artist and his spot paintings.
Today Gagosian announced the ‘The Complete Spot Challenge’. Anybody can participate and win a signed Damien Hirst spot print dedicated personally to you. All you have to do is visit all 11 Gagosian Galleries in Paris, Rome, New York, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Athens, Geneva, London and Rome, while the exhibitions are running. That means between January 12th and March 10th, 2012. If you want to start booking some flights, check for all locations here.

Chinese contemporary artist Li Wei is definitely a master at his unique craft. His unique photos would make great stills for an Ang Lee movie, that’s for sure. Wei uses wires and platforms to create these distinct pieces of art in a fusion of performance artistry and photography. However you view it, it’s some very cool stuff.

With 2012 being the alleged end of the world, you better plan accordingly. If art exhibits are your thing, then this list of 25 of the most anticipated exhibitions of 2012, as put together by Complex, can help make sure you are set for the year as far as that goes. Artist David Flores has been busy lately. Today we get a first look at his upcoming 10″ vinyl figure. Entitled ‘Deathead’, the toy is a “reinterpretation of Mickey melded with Totenkopf symbol utilized by the Prussian army during the time of Frederick the Great will be produced by Bic Plastics and reportedly come in five colorways.”
The artist stays 100% true to his signature segmented style with the vinyl toy. A release date has not been announced yet, but we will of course keep you posted.

In November we reported about the impressive opening of the JR ‘Encrages’ exhibition at Galerie Perrotin in Paris, featuring a live set of Massive Attack. This week the official recap video of the opening of the show has been released, beautifully portraying the mood of the set and the mass of people that attended the show opening.

The legendary Futura 2000 will be unveiling a new body of work consisting of 15 new paintings that were all created last year. The new show will be held at Paris’ Galerie Jerome de Noirmont on January 13, 2012. If you have never been to one of the artist’s shows, and if you are lucky enough to be around, this is one worth checking out. The show will be going on until February 29, 2012, so that should give you some time. Juxtapoz was able to procure a few preview images, so check them out to whet the appetite.

As the official opening ceremony for the HUF x Haroshi x DLX collaboration nears, HUF releases teaser 003, which sheds more light into the project. What we see in this video looks pretty incredible. Haroshi’s work is always awe inspiring, so this, along with musical performances from Tommy Guerrero, Ray Barbee, Money Mark and Fredo Ortiz makes for one heck of an event.
