Few graphic series succeed in producing continued quality and thoughtful design. One that does is the Burton Artist series. The current theme “Design of Dissent” gives each artist a strong working platform, and beyond those that are chosen are done so with a watchful eye. The result is drops that don’t skirt individuality in a quest for conformity — a requirement in a positive string of connected product.

The latest artist to work Burton’s t-shirt canvas is John Yates. He’s worked as artistic director of Alternative Tenticles, and with his own Stealworks actively designs for alternative press. For Burton, he’s done 4 tees. Each hits the nail on the head in terms of the umbrella theme. Visit your nearest Burton flagship store to grab one (or all).

"Vipp has given the classic 1939 design to a large number of big names in the worlds of design, fashion, art and entertainment and charged them with customising the bins.
The line-up of bins includes designs by names such as Karim Rashid, Dominic Wilcox, Bill Sofield, Simon Doonan, Thomas Libertiny, Ingrid Hoffman, Mattia Biagi and many others.

The bins are all currently on show in the Conran Shop in NYC and will be auctioned off with proceeds going to charity.

As part of their Spring/Summer 2008 collection, Sound & Fury, Rockers NYC has worked on an artist seriss. The Sound & Fury Artist Series features the “Wardance” tee, a collabo with photographer Shawn Mortensen, and the “Youth vs. Youth” tee, a collabo with artist and musician, Brian DeGraw.
RockersNYC have worked with the world-renowned photographer, Shawn Mortensen, on the epic tee, Wardance. In 1991, a war was waged on the Jamaican dancehall battlefield. Two artists, Super Cat, aka Don Dada, and Ninja Man, aka Don Gargon, clashed at Sting in Kingston in a historical battle, captured by Shawn Mortensen on one of his many travels.
RockersNYC also had the honor of producing a tee using Brian DeGraw’s multimedia piece “The Youth of Today” (2006). This piece features two albums of the same name by two very different, but equally influential, groups – Musical Youth, an English reggae group, and The Youth of Today, an American hardcore band. As a work of art, and a tee, “the piece suggests that beneath heterogeneous surfaces and commercial artifices there is a universality of artistic ambition transcending class, borders, genres, and disciplines.”
Have a look at some more pictures of the t-shirts after the jump.

This season we have visited more tradeshows than ever before. Thousands of pictures are now on the memory sticks and step by step we will give you previews of the interesting bits and pieces that we came across these past couple of weeks.
Beginning of February we visited the Boutique Fräsh tradeshow in Stockholm. This rather new show happened for the second time this month and has quickly evolved into the premier skate/street tradeshow in the Scandinavian market. Any brand that you might be interested in was showing. Over the course of this week, we will give you some interesting previews from the show.
We start today by showing you an interesting parka from the Grenade Artist Series. They worked with Rogue Status on a mountain parka. The white parka features the already famous gunshow pattern by the brand all over. Matching pants will also be coming along at its release later this year.
Check out more pics after the jump.

The next shoe in the 100th anniversary artist series by Converse is about to drop. This time the brand got together with designer/artist Ryan Lombardi. A graduate of the Art Institute of Philadelphia, his background is in graphic design, and graffiti. For this Chuck Taylor, Lombardi wanted to incorporate things that symbolized “Red” and “100” so he took design cues from Redwood Trees—trees that usually live to be hundreds of years old. A Jack Purcell by the artist will follow later on. This Chuck Taylor will drop this month at retailers. Today we present you a new label, FAM, which presents with its first season a series of artist designed t-shirts around the music theme.
“FAM is a new label that represents our Family and the way we come together to breath life into the products we make. With our passion for creativity, FAM brings to the world a new line that takes pride in the time, talent, and detail that goes into every single item produced under the brand. Since this apparel represents our individual personal styles, they in turn become an extension of our family branches. We want to share our vision and products to all, making each and everyone one of our supports a part of our ever growing family.”
Three artists were invited to come up with a design that shows how music inspires their design work. These three artists include Stephen Holding (New York), Jeff Hamada (Vancouver), and MC Yan (Hong Kong). The main objective was to see how each artist from a different part of the world would interpret a concept revolving around this theme and their ways of executing it. At the end, this project enables each artist to show how their designs can show similarities and differences within their personal style.
Each artist contributed one design, thus the first collection consists of overall three designs each coming on a black and a white t-shirt. FAM will be available at The Reed Space (NYC), St. Alfred (Chicago), Subdivision (Vancouver), Bodega (Boston) and Headquarter (Mexico).
After the jump you can have a look at the other t-shirts of the first season.

The London Police started when a few English geezers headed to Amsterdam in 1998 and started rejuvenating the visually disappointing streets of the drug capital of the world. The characters known simply as “LADS” soon held iconic presence in the city.
From 2002 onward, The London Police started sending missionaries into all corners of the globe and soon there were LADS on the streets and in shows in many World cities, including London, Manchester, Brussels, Barcelona, Berlin, Munich, Milan, Torino, Copenhagen, New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo.
In this latest artist collaboration, Oakley offers more than a signature sunglass – in extremely limited quantity, Oakley is introducing The London Police Artist Series Collector Pack, featuring a GASCAN sunglass, CROWBAR goggle and custom hoodie, all in a zippered case – each piece featuring artwork by The London Police.
Retail price on this pack is $500 US. The London Police GASCAN will be sold outside of the pack for a retail price of $170 US. Check those out in more detail after the jump.

The denim features a Aluminum back patch and stitching to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Staple. The back pockets feature pink acruates. Lastly we see the custom tag of the denim. There is no release date so far, but should the denim be released to the general public we will let you know.
Today we present you the next collaboration that is part of the Oakley Artist Series. This time the brand got together with artist Todd Francis.
Todd Francis has been designing skate graphics for fifteen years. His artwork has helped define several distinct companies such as Element Skateboards, Stereo, Real Skateboards, Spitfire Wheels and New Deal Skateboards. He is perhaps best known for applying political and environmental satire to his past graphics for Antihero Skateboards, which continues in the artwork he develops today for Element.
Oakley and Todd Francis present the “Eyepatch” sunglasses. As usual the glasses come in a limited edition run and custom pouch and box. Later this month Oakley will also host a media event for Todd Francis. Check the details after the jump.
