2011-Nike-MAG-Auctions-Raise-Over-$5-Million-USD-00
The unveiling and subsequent auction of the Nike MAG was by and large the biggest sneaker event of the year, if not the decade. Working with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Nike sold 1500 pairs of the sneaker over a 10 day period, raising a total of $5,695,190.53 USD. Much respect to all who participated.

UPDATE: If you recall, Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google, will be matching this number, so in the end over $11,390,381.10 USD will go to charity as a result of this initiative.

See a detailed by-the-numbers break down of the Nike MAG sales after the click.

It was an ordinary evening at Lone Pine Mall. All Kevin Durant wanted was a new pair of shoes. Then the space-time continuum showed up.

Bill Hader, Christopher Lloyd, Tinker Hatfield, Donald Fullilove and KD star in a film about the most famous shoes never made, in an effort to support the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research.

The next hint about the major Nike announcement has dropped now. Entitled ‘McFly’s Closet’, the text of the video says “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say that looks like shelves and shelves of 2011 Nike MAG shoes”.

After showcasing shield glasses earlier and now this video, who knows, those Marty McFly sneakers might actually become reality. We cannot confirm anything yet, but will keep you posted!

Back To The Future Hoverboard Auction

highsnobiety - Back To The Future Hoverboard Auction
Every once in a while there are some really interesting auctions going on and that is also the case today. The original Back To The Future Hoverboard is being offered. The starting bid is set at 30′000 USD.
"Michael J. Fox “Marty Mcfly” hero Mattel hoverboard from Back to the Future Part II & Part III. (Universal Pictures, 1989, 1990) This is one of the hero Mattel Hoverboards used by Michael J. Fox in his most famous role as “Marty McFly” in the Robert Zemeckis classic 80s trilogy, Back to the Future. Two styles of Hoverboard were made for and employed in the film – lightweight boards of styrofoam construction and thick and durable wood-based props – this example is the latter, and is recognized as the best example of all wood Hoverboards to have survived the rigors of filming." Via Gizmodo.
If you recently got the McFly Hyperdunk, then this might just be the right addition to the collection.
You can participate or just watch the auction here.
