Today we attended the Band of Outsiders Spring/Summer 2012 Collection Presentation, happening during Pitti Uomo Summer 2012, the 8th edition of the Florence show. Scott Sternberg and his brand Band of Outsiders from LA, were chosen as guest designers, after Jil Sander, Undercover and Thom Browne showed the last three years.

Scott Sternberg put together a remarkable show, that was much more entertaining than what you usually get to see on the runway. Taking place at an old tabacco factory in Florence, the show was a mix of classic runway walking, dancing, and theatric performances, all while playing Westside Story as a background theme and music. Both the mens and womens collections for Spring/Summer 2012 were shown at the presentation, which was crowded with buyers, press and celebrity guests.

We were always fans of the collaboration between Band of Outsiders and Sperry Top-Sider, yet we have to admit that the collection has lost a bit of its appeal these past two seasons. Today we can report on their upcoming Spring/Summer 2012 Footwear and can thankfully report that they are back to their old strengths.

Next to a great denim patchwork style, they present a navy/red stripe version and a series of great tonal color-ups of the boat shoe for the coming season.

From the new Band of Outsiders Spring/Summer 2011 Collection a solid navy waterproof baseball jacket has released. While keeping an overall clean look, the jacket comes with red stripe accents on the cuffs and waist, while also featuring several pockets. The elbow patches are tonal and match the material of the upper. The jacket is now available from ForwardForward.

All colors of the new Spring/Summer 2011 3 Eye Boat Shoe from Sperry Top-Sider and Band of Outsiders have released this week. Mixing nylon and suede on the upper, all 4 colorways feature a striped blue/white lining. The limited edition shoes are now in stock at the official Sperry Top-Sider online store.

While the new Band of Outsiders x Sperry Top-Sider footwear collection for Spring/Summer 2011 seems a bit less exciting than in previous seasons, we do like a lot this multicolor panel version of the Authentic Original Boat Shoe from the collection. Featuring a mixed nylon/suede upper, the shoe features different colors on different panels and is now in stock at End.

Band of Outsiders has gotten together with famed surf photographer LeRoy Grannis. Born in Hermosa Beach, the photographer has documented the surf scene since the early 60s. Later on in his life, his work has not only been shown in the most respected surf magazines, but also in art galleries.

Some of his most beautiful images are now being featured on a special series of Band of Outsiders polo shirts. colette (storeguide) among others, will be getting them in very soon.

For Fall/Winter 2011, Band of Outsiders showcased their collection for the first time on the runway in New York. That does not mean that designer Scott Sternberg did it the same way everybody else does though. Check out the video of the presentation here above!

One of the most beautiful pieces from the new Band of Outsiders Spring/Summer 2011 Collection has released – the suede baseball jacket. Here we present it in a navy/dark green colorway with a complete suede upper, striped lining and nice details on the collar and cuffs. It’s an instant classic that will never go our of style. The new Band of Outsiders Fall/Winter 2011 Collection has been presented during New York Fashion Week over the weekend. The LA brand headed by designer Scott Sternberg continues to remain a favorite of ours. A relaxed and at the same time sophisticated 70s hiking inspired look was presented for the coming season. The sweat pants and blazers are once again our personal favorites.
